One of the original tapas locations in the city, Jaleo brings you what you're looking for. Good tapas and great sangria. Pronounced 'Ha-Lay-O', they have another location in Bethesda with enough outdoor seating to satisfy people who go to Bethesda. On second thought, just stay downtown. Open Mon-Wed,Sun 11:30am-10pm; Thu-Sat 11:30am-12am

You know what you're getting when it comes to tapas, and Las Tapas has it. We just wish they had come up with a more descriptive name so you wouldn't need us to translate. I mean seriously...

Zaytinya is all about ethnic tapas, and they're good. And the ladies will enjoy this place as the food comes on small plates, and there is a lot of pretty glass. Shiny. Just don't let anyone tell you it's cheap. Sure tapas always looks cheap until you have to buy 30 of those little plates... Open Mon,Sun 11:30am-10pm; Tue-Thu 11:30am-11:30pm; Fri-Sat 11:30am-12am

There aren't a lot of tapas places in DC, and this place draws the crowds on U Street. However, we remind you of its existence only to point out that its staff are clueless and its drinks ridiculous. A jack and coke in an 8oz. glass costs over 7 bucks. This is the kind of place where two simple drinks can cost $16, and you give the bartender a 20 and he walks away assuming a $4 tip. No assumptions please!
