We have good news and bad news. The bad news is that the Eastern Market was gutted by a fire moving this DC landmark across the street to a glowing white army tent. The good news? The Market is nearing renovation and the Market Inn will be back. We love this place, nestled in the middle of butcher cases and neighborhood families. Open Weekdays 7:30am-3:30pm; Sat 8am-3:30pm; Sun 9am-3:30pm

This is the greasy spoon of all greasy spoons, and it happens to be a center of power in DC. Many members of congress soak up that bourbon at the Tune Inn before heading off to vote on your future. Sure the place looks like a taxidermy shop, but the surly waitress that has been there for 20 years will treat you right. Open Mon 12am-2am, 8am-2am; Tue-Thu 8am-2am; Fri-Sat 8am-3am; Sun 8am-12am

The locals would kill us if we didn't include Luna because everyone who eats there loves this greasy-but-healthy spoon. They're right, it is good. But the wait can be long and the crowd can have a little too much political agenda for our taste. And by political agenda, we mean 5 out of 10 customers are wearing a Che Guevara t shirt. Viva Breakfast.

Do you know Jimmy? Well we don't even know if there is a 'Jimmy', but we do know one thing, it is hard to get a table at the finest greasy spoon on Capitol Hill. Regulars love this place, and they are usually the ones slow rolling their breakfast so you can't get any. We heard one girl put it the right way - "when I feel like he is expecting breakfast, but I want him to go home, I take him to Jimmy's". Let's hope he remembered one.

Are you driving out to Rockville for breakfast? Not unless you live there. But if you are in the mood to drive 30 minutes for the perfect chain breakfast place, we have to recommend the OPH. If you live in Rockville, count yourself lucky for at least one reason.

It's IHOP. It's close to the city. It has everything you will ever need to relieve a hangover. It's near a mall. It's near a metro stop (Ballston). It's IHOP.
