You like it fancy don't you? This place is as fancy as Capitol Hill gets, thankfully. But Sonoma delivers. Great Italian fare is partnered with a generous wine list that will have you deciding if your date is worth the Brunello or if Merlot will do. Probably Merlot.

Cork is a new Logan Circle invention that is catching on. It take wine seriously and has an inviting neighborhood feel that is a very pleasant atmosphere to share a glass of vino. They know their wine and they serve it right with the corresponding enthusiasm it deserves. For a bar named Cork, we wish their ‘by the glass’ menu was a bit more extensive, but a small place like Cork has plenty of room to grow, just like it’s wine.

Proof is a restaurant that has a great wine bar. Not the other way around. They invest time, pride and care into their wine list, and its delivery, and it is well noticed. The sommelier will help you sample the expensive stuff, even when that might seem out of your range. Like any good sommelier or wine bar, they help you appreciate what is great about wine so you come back to spend more later. That is why we like Proof.

Your friends from California will drink a glass of white here with a side dish and lovingly recall their days in Napa and how they miss the ocean. Freakin West Coasters. However, this bar does have a nice California selection....dude.

Any of the DC Steakhouses or upscale bars will serve you a great wine list. Wine is taken seriously in this town. However, Citronelle rises above them all with one of the best cellars on the East Coast. Sommelier Mark Slater will hook you up.

Sitting at 11th and U Street, Vinoteca draws from the crowd of the U Street Corridor. But if you can stand that, and sometimes we can’t, then you’ll get a nice little wine bar and bistro here. They do a wonderful job making you feel at home and they are knowledgeable about their product. These cats are definitely up and comers in the DC wine bar scene.
