We're not going to recommend any particular DC service since they are all crooks. Seriously, DC is the worst cab town in America. However, as of April 2008, thanks to the Mayor, they finally are forced by law to have meters. Of course, they will never stop whining about this development. We used to advise you to make sure you knew how the driver arrived at fare. Now we are unsure what the new scam will be. Our best guess? They'll drive you all over town to go two blocks. Bottom line, if you feel like you're being screwed, you probably are. Negotiate, and if all else fails, get his license number. Oh, and DC law forces them to take you wherever in the DC area you want, if they stop for you. So don't let them get away with driving away because they don't think they can get a fare the other way... Can you tell we're bitter?
