It serves good bar food, tall cold beers and has plenty of TVs, which is all you can ask for. The Ballston location is enormous with plenty of areas for obnoxious alumni to congregate on Saturdays. Do NOT go to the Crystal City location. It is awful, and they put a higher premium on karaoke then playoff games (seriously!). So get in your car with the alumni license plate holder and head on over to Ballston to scream about what a crappy coach you have and how he just cost you the second-half over.

Open Mon-Sat 11am-2am; Sun 11am-12am

Buffalo Billiards

It's a huge bar with lots of pool tables, lots of TVs and lots of sports fans period. We think they have food too. Nothing spectacular but when you are looking for sports in DC, your options are limited.

Open Mon 4pm-2am; Tue-Thu 4pm-2am; Fri 4pm-3am; Sat 1pm-3am; Sun 1pm-12am

Front Page

With a couple locations, this place serves it purpose and is a favorite of local radio celebs the Sports Junkies. However, they are a bit small and best suited for quick checking of your fantasy team on the go.

Champps Americana (Arlington)

Maybe you've been to one of these before? Well, they're all the same so expect much of the same, great bar food, plenty of TVs, the game you want to watch playing on the other side of the room and a waitress who rejects your advances so she can continue to date the assistant manager of the Cheesecake Factory.

There are the obvious drink specials, but be warned that they cater to Red Sox nation. So if you're a Yankees fan, you may want to steer clear, unless you want to re-enact A-Rod slapping the ball away or crying in the dugout. Also the play Philadephia Eagles, Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Syracuse University The Orange.

Open Sun-Thu Noon-2am; Fri Noon-3am; Sat Noon-3am

ESPN Zone

It's ESPN Sportzone so you know what you are getting - overpriced beer, snooty staff and lots of tourists. However, you are also getting plenty of TVs and a downtown location. So call your bookie and let him know where you'll be, so long as it is before midnight, when they shut their doors even if you're watching extra innings on ESPN!!! ridiculous. They need to put the Sports Guy, Bill Simmons, in charge of this franchise, or the Milwaukee Bucks.

However, there is no other sports bar in the city that will have this many women asking you what a "yellow card" means, so go there.

Open Mon 2:30pm-2am; Tue-Thu 3pm-2am; Fri-Sat 10am-3am; Sun 10am-midnight

Penn Ave Pour House

If Capitol Lounge had a slightly hotter sister who got far less attention, this would be her. She doesn't give it up like Cap Lounge, but you'll want to stick with her longer and learn that she has more to offer in the long run. Got it? Also, they are a block apart so shop for the best crowd and then pick one. Also if you are fans of Pittsburg Steelers Nation, Florida Gators, and Michigan Wolverines then this is the place you wanna be!

But here’s the thing about Summers, it technically has everything you are looking for. Lots of flat screens, every game on, a reasonable policy about changing channels, bad bar food, a huge smoking section and huge non-smoking section, jumbo beers and jumbo beers. Here is why people hate it, it looks like an old Big Boy family restaurant, its patrons have been sitting on that barstool since 1984 and it just feels a bit weird. And it plays lots of English Soccer, ugh. Check it out though, because they are going to sell this property in the next 5-8 years, guaranteed.

Tortoise and the Hare

If you’re in Crystal City, there are several sports bar choices. Bailey’s is great. Crystal City Sports Pub is pretty good and Tortoise and the Hare is the new kid on the block. We’re trying here first, and if it’s crowded, we’re reassessing.
