An amazing place to see a band, enjoy some soul food, and pick one of four floors or a roof deck to take it all in. It has all the trappings of a dive bar, with the elegance of your favorite New Orleans music haunt. The bands are usually jam happy, and the folks get up and dance. While many places claim institution status in DC, this is one place that backs it up. Open Mon 12am-2am, 5pm-2am; Tue-Thu 5pm-2am; Fri-Sat 5pm-3am; Sun 5pm-12am

Remember the scene from Animal House where the guys bring their dates to see Otis and a few men ask if they can dance with their dates? Remember?? Exactly. Love the New Vegas Lounge. And love Dr. Blues. Open Thu-Sat 5pm-2am

Located in a Bermuda triangle of Clarendon live music, Whitlow's often has a decent 'just out of the garage' band. The bar is spacious enough to allow the music to either be your background or the main attraction. Open Mon 12am-2am, 11am-2am; Tue-Fri 11am-2am; Sat 9am-2am; Sun 9am-12am

Your mom used to tell you how Bob Seger played some gymnasium or ballroom when she was 18, and it was the best. Well, live it up like Mom did. The bands here bring their A games, the dance floor is literally a ballroom and there is a great upstairs deck for smoke breaks. Open Thu-Fri 5:30pm-2am

A blues-rock-n-roll band is usually holding court at the front of Saloun where groups of women dance in circles to this crazy nostalgic music and laugh and drink more vodka sodas. Girls being girls. Check it out. p.s. - Sneaky Lauren says they have big beers too. That's what she loves about it. So...try the big beers!

In Georgetown, there is a small bar where college bands and cover bands play with great zest. The people come from blocks around to hear these bands. It's also loud and small. That bar is Grog and Tankard.
