Smith Point is clearly one of the best places to meet quality folks, drink plenty of RBVs and either score or stumble out at 3am; however, you aren't getting in so move on to #2. Ok, we'll give you one tip - if you're a guy, be very polite to the doormen, say as few words as possible, and don't give up after they tell you you have to be on the list....give up after they say it twice. Head back to Daily Grill where all the other people who didn't get in are drinking. Smith Point is the exclusive 'on the list' bar in Georgetown that usually hosts charity nights on Thursdays where $10-15 will let you see the place that turns you away on Friday or Saturday. Open Thu-Sat 6:30pm-11pm

Mate is the sneaky spot we’re drinking at these days. It’s down by the waterfront in Georgetown but it is really hidden away. After some pre-drinks at Farenheit at the Ritz up the street, head to Mate for late night mingling and drink service. The music is well chosen and the staff will treat you darn right, if you do the same in return (as is always the case).
The Guards

The Guards is one of those places that captures everything that is right about DC. Vintage wood decor, smart bartenders and a legitimate Georgetown vibe. It also is full of drunk outsiders, conceited insiders and groups of platonic friends. Here's the bottom line, DC has stereotypical nightclubs where P.Diddy wannabes hang out, but you don't want us sending you there, do you? This place has a downstairs dance floor that has been circled by eager dudes for decades looking for young Georgetown ladies. Suburbia meets sweaty hooking up. A sportsbar that becomes a dance floor, Mister Day's is full of CPAs and staff assistants who actually don't want to know what you do. They just want to know if you're drunker than they are. Thankfully you are.

Saloun lurks in the shadows of M Street. Inside is good live music, a long bar and a rather high girl/guy ratio. Tables are tough to come by, but if you snag one, you'll most likely camp there for the night. Give it a shot. Heaven & Hell is the stereotypical 'club'. There is plenty of grinding going on in this old Adams Morgan haunt that nobody admits to ever having gone too....but they have...and we hooked up.
