Vietnamese with a markedly PNW spin, they always keep it fresh - both through the ingredients they use and the new and exciting dishes they're always coming up with. They do more things with pork than a Tennessean militiaman and you can take heart in the fact that they get most of their organic ingredients from local growers. An awe-inspiring wine cellar at their disposal, Monsoon's knowledgeable staff will hook you up with what to drink with what. It's located in Capitol Hill but the food will make you feel like you're a kid again back in Saigon. The menu is diverse enough to find something for everyone.

It's quite an accomplishment to stand firm as the best Asian food in Seattle, but Green Leaf keeps the good stuff coming. First off, if you haven't tried Vietnamese food, you have no idea what you're missing. Good Pho can teeter on becoming a religious experience and here it gets you there. Reasonably priced, GL is small but charming. On the weekend it leads to tight quarters, but playing footsie with random Seattleites is fun too. Located in the International District, this Vietnouveau (did we just coin a phrase?) restaurant will always bring a smile to your face. Start out with their great spring rolls and go from there. Hours: Daily 10:30am-10pm

Sichuanese is the most popular kind of Chinese food in the motherland. Known for its spicy concoctions with varying degrees of heat, it's tough to go wrong. Both locations are good - Jackson Street or Redmond, but watch your back in Redmond because Microsoft gangs have been known to roll people just for having an iPod and looking at them funny. They've got excellent noodle options, but for our money, go with “Ma and Hot Hotpot” - A red hot soup bonanza of meat and stuff that you don't need to know about, just know it's the goods. You might want to consider loading up on Pepcid before you head over.
