Featuring both informational and interactive exhibits, the EMP has something for every music lover. You'll need to wear a pack to access the interactive audio; it can get heavy, so either travel light or check your bags. Admission gets you into both EMP and the Science Fiction Museum. Open daily 10 am - 5 pm.

While it's not huge, the Seattle aquarium is both educational and entertaining (gotta love those sea otters!). The underwater dome is pretty spectactular, too. Open 9:30am to 5pm daily (except certain holidays; check website); last entry at 5 pm, exhibits close at 6 pm.

Alki beach boasts some of the area's best views, from the Seattle skyline to the Olympic mountains. The park stretches 2.5 miles, from Alki Point to Duwamish Head on Elliott Bay. Stroll down the sidewalk or the beach, or get out your wheels (bike or rollerblades) and glide down the designated lane. Dining ranges from shacks serving fish & chips and burgers to more formal restaurants. Grab a table or some take-out just before sundown and enjoy an amazing sunset.

Seattle's most famous landmark boasts an amazing view and a pretty good restaurant, too. If you're not up for the price of a full meal, you can make a feast of the reasonably-priced appetizers -- or skip the restaurant altogether and just visit the observation deck. Plus, if you find yourself at a loss for conversation, you can always look at the scenery and find something to talk about. The view changes constantly as the restaurant rotates 360 degrees. The restaurant dress code forbids tank tops and muscle-T's for men, but neat casual clothing is acceptable.

One of the easiest ways to take in amazing views of the Puget Sound area, including local marine life, ferries depart from downtown Seattle and a number of other locations. Avoid commuter hours and holidays if you don't want to risk waiting in a long line with your car, or simply walk aboard. Enjoy the open deck when the weather is good, or stay warm and dry in the large, windowed seating area when it's not.
