Since 1918 this diner on Santa Fe’s historic plaza has been serving the locals and tourists authentic New Mexican and Greek food! It’s still run by members of the original family with Greek roots, which explains the unusual menu! Its all good – from the blue corn enchiladas to the moussaka, and from traditional Greek salads to fritters, ceviche, even country fried steak and mashed potatoes! You could easily eat here every day without being tempted by a sandwich – although they do have them! The dessert case will have you drooling – check out the Red Velvet Cake and their apple pie too! Hours – Daily, 7am-9pm

Another top choice to sneak on into for something other than a ho-hum sandwich! This bistro is known for their selection of homemade soups as well as salads! A few nice vegan selections as well! You can get a ridiculously good Reuben here if you must have a sandwich, but come for the soup and give the mushroom a try! The Backstreet is super popular with locals at lunchtime so crowds are the norm – but the wait is worth it! Hours – Mon-Sat, 11am-2:30pm

This family run operation is frequented by locals but it’s just off the plaza location keeps them busy with the tourists as well. The crowds normally spill out into the street – but its cool – you get to check out the funky mix of humanity going by! If you are a regular customer you’ll be greeted by name and treated as family! Tia’s serves authentic Northern New Mexican meals – a sneaky hint – choose anything that has green chile on it as it is addictively delicious! Get it on the side if necessary! For parking ease there’s a municipal garage a block away – convenient and sneaky! Hours – Mon-Sat, 7am-2pm Closed Sunday

Although this place is casual, just off the dusty streets of downtown, the impeccable service and gourmet food is simply extraordinary - the décor creates a garden oasis of luminescent stained glass, wood and tile! Sneaky Sunday recommends this place for any meal, any time of day! Awesome choices include many fish, seafood and meats true to favorite traditional Northern New Mexican cuisine as well as Spanish and Latin flavors!Hours – Daily, Breakfast and lunch 7am-2:30pm Dinner 5:30-10pm

This is another great place when a sandwich just won’t do! Typically busy during the week with suits doing their business lunch thing! For nearly fifty years The Bull Ring has remained the place to go for prime beef, fish and chops! Lunch offerings include many specialty salads, homemade soups of the day and entrée specials such as steak kabobs and beef fajitas! Perfectly grilled salmon, pork and beef filets are standard fine lunch fare here! Hours – Mon-Fri, 11:30-10pm Sat-Sun, 4-10pm
