Outdoor shopping at its best! The plaza is framed by San Francisco St, Washington, East Palace and Lincoln Ave. which is where hundreds of shops are within strolling distance! From the casual souvenir seeker to serious collectors, the shopping opportunities are endless. Every day, on the plaza’s north end, under the portals of the Palace of the Governors, the local Native American artisans display their sparkling silver jewelry pieces laid upon blankets. Art galleries and boutiques are tucked among the cafes, museums, historic landmarks and hotels that line every available inch of this one-of-a-kind shopping adventure. Whether you are a window shopper or looking to add to a collection, the plaza is the coolest place to shop outdoors, period.
This area of Santa Fe is named after the oldest existing U.S. shrine (circa 1796) dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe. The district has been a center of trading since the establishment of El Camino Real bringing goods from Mexico City and beyond. A spur of the Atcheson, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroads was built in the 1880’s enabling the moving of goods and people during an important era of American history. Currently, the district has many quaint shops and innovative dining, along with one of the country’s best Farmer’s Markets! Due to the length of the growing season, it is open year round. (Sat. only in winter) Strict guidelines insure that 80% of all items for sale come solely from the 15 participating New Mexico counties. This is an awesome part of town to spend some time shopping!
One of the many reasons that Santa Fe has become a top destination city is due to the incredible amount of art galleries and studios primarily located along Canyon Road. Always cool and funky, there’s about a mile of world class shopping, dining, and entertainment strung along this road. Super sneaky opportunities for surprising shopping finds exist around every corner!

Distinctly different, Sanbusco comprises a renovated group of warehouses that were originally built to support Santa Fe’s rail yard industry. These Pueblo style, tin roofed structures have been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Unique boutique shopping opportunities range from women’s apparel and jewelry, salon services and gift shops, anchored by a well known national bookstore. Several fine places to eat here as well. This center would be a good choice for a fairly quick, streamlined shopping spree due to its hassle free parking and shops which are consolidated into a small area. Check out the web for further details as hours vary from store to store.
