Sneaky Sunday recommends La Fonda for so many reasons! The history, location, exterior and interior design, world class amenities, flawless service, and truly exceptional dining are absolutely cause enough to book a stay here. Since the early 1800’s there has been an inn at this spot, established for weary travelers, at the end of the Santa Fe Trail. The La Fonda occupies this historic site, and its location on the plaza means you can walk to most of the city’s main attractions. In 1922 the current hotel was built in the Pueblo Revival/Spanish Colonial style. Any type of amenity you would expect at a world class facility is available. From the moment of arrival until you depart you will be aware of the flawless service you will receive. Dining in La Plazuela is just exquisite, from the food to the atmosphere!

Also conveniently situated near the plaza, this is an awesome place to stay in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. Another example of sublime Mission/Pueblo architecture, the El Dorado, Spanish for “the golden one” has every type of service and amenity you would expect at a fine hotel. Some sneaky extras include a rooftop pool, a nationally acclaimed restaurant, The Old House, and the luxury of the in-house Nidah Spa! You could be tempted to never leave the premises, but with all the other funky things to do and see in Santa Fe, probably not! Check their website for everything you need to know.

This would qualify as a one of a kind retreat experience located on 450 acres, bordering a national forest and the captivatingly gorgeous Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range! About ten minutes away from all the activity on Santa Fe’s plaza, Bishop’s Lodge offers quiet privacy amidst the beauty of nature. Outdoor adventures are just outside your room, the lodge itself consists of several buildings with common areas for dining and socializing. There is a fine dining restaurant on premises, and also a bar and grille poolside! (largest pool in Santa Fe) Another plus is their spa which offers the most luxurious pampering treatments imaginable. The Lodge has a great website for further information.

Superior in every aspect, stay here if you can! Within walking distance of everything you’ll want to be near, from museums to dining to night life! This inn underwent major renovations recently and is incomparable as far as a boutique hotel. Designed as an architectural duplicate of the Taos Pueblo, its beauty is unequaled around town! There are three art museums, an on premises spa and the restaurant, Luminaria, a Sneaky Sunday top pick for both its reputation for fine, as well as outdoor dining. An interesting back story regarding the Inn is the adjacent Loretto Chapel. Gothic in design, circa 1878, this chapel has an infamous stairway that has a yet to be determined mode of construction defying the best explanation of science and reason. (if you believe in miracles check it out) Detailed information is available on their website.

This inn is one more example of the best of boutique hotels in historic Santa Fe. The location just steps away from the plaza, adds convenience to an authentic southwest experience during a stay here. The Anasazi people were the ancient inhabitants of this region and the Inn was built in a way that honors their culture. From the pueblo architecture to the incorporation of artifact elements in its interior décor, this place allows you to feel the vibes of the original inhabitants while enjoying all the comforts of our modern world. Extras include their “Library” in which you can immerse yourself in the history of the area, a wine cellar, a fine dining restaurant, and there’s a patio and bar as well. Check the Inn’s website for all the information you need.

Sneaky Sunday ranks the El Rey Inn as an extraordinary place to lay your head! Built along what was originally part the infamous Route 66, this inn represented the era of the roadside motor lodges which were popularized when interstate travel became all the rage. True to the region, the buildings are adobe style, with many renovations, additions and improvements added over its 70 plus years of history. Each room or suite is completely unique, decorated in classic Santa Fe style showcasing antiques, furniture and articles of the southwest. Set on five acres, the opportunity to wander the flower filled grounds which have been awarded the status of “Back Yard Wildlife Habitat” is the sneaky factor here! There are sauna and whirlpool facilities hidden around the nooks and crannies of the landscape that create cool intimacy. An outdoor pool, fitness room and complimentary breakfast also help to create an “oasis in the desert” vibe at the El Rey Inn! Check their website for every necessary detail.
