Call for a reservation because they will not let you in without the password. The place is equipped with secret doors and the largest bourbon selection in the city. In the true style of a speakeasy this place does it right from the second you walk in the door. If bourbon doesn’t float your boat try the cucumber cocktails, yeah guys can drink them too (they’re that good). The unmarked door can be hard to find in the sketchy neighborhood but that adds to the character. Check the house rules before you go because you don’t want to get kicked out, they smuggle booze.

You'll feel like you've stepped off the streets of Paris when you walk into this French gem. Although not all that well known, it's well worth the trip. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner this hidden gem is one to be sought out.

If you thought the glass boot full of beer what a myth think again. This is a Bavarian style café where you pony next to a neighbor you just met and grub down on Weisswurst sausages with a liter of the finest German beer they make. A blue eyed wait staff is more than friendly with the mixed Hayes valley hipster crowd. No reservations.

This mission restaurant has no sign and no number so you need to get dropped off close. This rustic bistro and wine bar serves up a mix of Mediterranean dishes. The place can get a bit snobby but that aside it's worth the adventure to find. Mon-Wed 6pm-10pm, Thu-Sat 6pm-11pm, 11:30pm-2pm, Sun 11am-2:30pm

A small place that packs a lot of class and does everything right. Menu highlights are the pizzas and flat bread with French style comfort food (check the beef cheaks). Good stiff cocktails and feel free to saddle up to the bar.
