It's worth the drive! Gruene Hall is nearly half way to Austin up I-35N but it's worth it. Check the schedule, but this is a classic Texas dance hall with amazing live performances (almost daily) from the likes of Jerry Jeff Walker, Robert Earl Keen, etc. etc...

Great location near all of the various St. Mary's Street bars and clubs, the White Rabbit is a great place to go see an up and coming band (or an old favorite). Good old fashioned Rock is the usual flavor.
