Okay, so there are sports bars you go to watch THE game (that would be the one a Philly team is actually involved in) and then there’s Fox and Hound – the place to go to watch the rest of the games. Yes, that includes soccer. (And yes, that is a sport.) While we have a tendency to shy away from chain places, Fox and Hound delivers on what it sets out to do – broadcast every game you wanna watch alongside good food and great beer. Really. What more could you want from a sports bar? Granted, it can get crowded on the weekends and during big sporting events, but just get there early and belly up to the bar. Right next to us.

If there’s one thing we think of as a requirement in a sports bar, it’s a great beer selection. And O’Neals certainly has that. But what about the food, you ask? Safe to say, they offer up everything you’d expect from a typical sports bar and then some (like teriyaki beef skewers, a yummy feta and walnut salad and veggie sammiches). We like to think of O’Neals as the one place on South Street we can go to have a beer, hang out, and watch the game. If we’re not too distracted by the unpretentious eye candy, that is.

This is one hard core Philly sports bar – emphasis on “philly” and “sports.” That means if you’re wearing a jersey from any other city, don’t bother showing up. Unless you like a good ass-kicking. It also means that you may confuse this local high-energy sports bar for a pretty rockin’ crab shack. Wait. What? Yep. Chickie and Pete’s has quite the reputation for their crabby goodness – from tasty blue crabs to humongous Dungeness crabs that make cracking into those suckers totally worth the effort. Of course, we’d be terribly remiss if we didn’t also mention the crab-free Crab Fries. Yes, they’re regular ol’ fries doused in Old Bay, but for some reason, the way Chickie and Pete do ‘em up, they’re irresistible.
