So here’s the thing about Tacconelli’s: Their pizza is so incredible you have to call ahead just to reserve your dough – because once they run out for the day, you’re SOL. Speaking of dough, Tac’s is a cash-only joint located off the beaten path in Fishtown. It’s also a BYOB, so feel free to roll up with a cooler of beer in tow. (We do!) Inside, the place isn’t much to write home about, so you know it really IS all about the food – like the white pizza which we make you buckle at the knees and thank the Lord and Baby Jesus Himself for the perfection that is Tacconelli’s.
Mama Palmas

We’ve heard the Margherita is incredible, but every time we’re at Mama Palmas, we end up trying something, well, weird. Like the Peking Duck pizza. Why? Because we can. At Mama Plama’s you’ll find some pretty nutty pizza toppings, but we haven’t met one we didn’t like. A few of our favorites bits: The ingredients are fresh, including the buffalo mozzarella that they make fresh on-site. They offer a huge selection of great salads and a small but nice selection of beers. And they even have “low-fat pizza” on the menu. Low-fat pizza? Isn’t that an oxymoron? While we do admit that the atmosphere is very loud and maybe a little too kid-friendly for us, that’s to be expected from an Italian eatery that aims to treat its customers like family.

You know you’ve done it. Ordered a slice of pizza and then emptied the napkin holder trying to soak up all the grease. Thankfully, that’s one thing you won’t have to worry about at Rustica. This tiny place in Northern Liberties with exposed brick walls and rustic charm somehow manages to whip up creative thin crust pies that deliver all the cheesy goodness any great pizza should aspire to – without being overly greasy. Like we said, the place is tiny and only has a few tables, so if it’s crowded when you get there, you may have to consider getting that pie to go.

Located on south street, Lorenzo's makes delicious large pizza's. Take out style pizza place; no seating inside. Great late night destination since you can also get pizza by the slice.
