The first time we got really, really drunk on really, really high-end tequila, it was at Tequilas. And it was worth every penny. The food is authentic and dee-lish (we’re not experts on mole sauce, but we bet it’s the best in town). There’s even a Mexican history lesson right on the menu, so you can be a lush and learn something at the same time! True, it’s a tad pricey and a little fancy-pants, but with 80+ tequilas to choose from and the option to make many of the dishes vegetarian, we’re not complaining. Did we mention you can order margaritas in a huge ceramic crock with its own tap? Bring the coworkers, family, or significant other. And keep your eyes peeled for waiters carrying drinks on their heads. Yep. On their heads.

El Vez dishes up modern Mexican goodness, from the Mahi-mahi tacos (small, but hells yeah are they yummy), to the red chile and chicken enchiladas, and a Mexican salad that is downright addicting. We’re also head over heels for the Sexican. (Get your head out of the gutter, it’s a cocktail.) And did we mention there’s also a photo-booth, an Oscar Dela Hoya low-rider bike behind the bar, and sexy round booths big enough for you and your seven closest friends? Now that’s caliente.

Officially, Lolita is the best BYOT (bring your own tequila) we’ve ever been to. The cozy (okay, small) dining room is perfect for date night – and it gives you an excuse to sit so close to your friends you can try their entrees without them noticing. (Trust us, you’ll want to. Everything on the menu is THAT good.) Happen to be dating a veggie - or be one yourself? Make your dish vegetarian by swapping out the meat for pan-seared three chile tofu or grilled Portobello.

A great place to hang your sombrero for happy hour, The Mexican Post is famous for its signature Gran Gold Margaritas, tickling the tongue in six flavors. And with authentic house specials including fajitas, enchiladas and chimichangas – boy, we like saying that word – Mexican Post is pretty much a guaranteed fiesta for your mouth. Ole!

Where Tex-Mex meets Manayunk. We’re not quite sure what that means, but we do know Johnny Mananas rocks out signature specialties like Shrimp Quesadilla Salad and Avocado Salmon. And the crème de la crème? (Ok that’s French but you know where we’re going with this.) The sauces: made with fresh chiles, carrots and corn. They’re something else.

Get ready for a bueno time at this BYOT, where the margaritas – lime, peach or strawberry – are a little taste of paradise. A hot spot for large dinner parties, El Azteca dishes up some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine this side of the Rio Grande, as they like to say.
