Founded in 1809, The Walnut Street Theatre is America's oldest theatre. And with more than 56,000 season ticket holders, it’s also the most subscribed theatre company in the world. On stage, some of the Walnut's shining stars include: Helen Hayes, George M. Cohan, George C. Scott, Jane Fonda, Katharine Hepburn, Ethel Waters and Jessica Tandy. And off, it’s welcomed the likes of Thomas Jefferson, Bill Cosby and Groucho Marx. Talk about a good showing! This season, catch our all-time favorite: Les Miserables, running through August 3.

The hills are alive with the sound of music! Once the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, today The Mann Center rocks out as the only outdoor cultural arts venue in the Philadelphia region – and one of the largest of its kind in the nation. This open-air theater hosts some of the world’s best-known artists, in genres ranging from orchestra to opera, dance to drumming, pop and jazz to rock and roll.

There’s always magic in the air at The Forrest, our favorite off-Broadway venue. In recent years, The Forrest has toured productions of Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Avenue Q and more. And the 2008-2009 season heats up with Legally Blonde, famous for the bend and snap; A Chorus Line, celebrated for, well, the ever-climactic chorus line; and Spring Awakening, probably best known for Jonathan Groff, but etched in history now as the 2007 Tony-winning best musical.

Fun factoid: Wilma is the fictitious feminine persona of William Shakespeare… Or so those thespians claim. [For us, Wilma Flintstone is usually top of mind.] Through June 1, catch Eurydice: the classic myth of Orpheus retold from the heroine’s point of view. You go girl!
