Philly sports fans are a trip. And you’ll be tripping all over them at Chickie’s and Pete’s. This crowded, neighborhood sports bar scores highest on our list, as much for its competitive clientele as it’s winning bar food and drinks. (Can you say World Famous Crab Fries and a tower of beer delivered to your table?) But you don’t have to take our word for it. ESPN named Chickie’s and Pete’s the number three sports bar in the country. Score!

Sandwiched between Old City and Northern Liberties, McFadden's does sports fan right with digital surround sound, a 110” projector screen, plasma TV and 18 color TVs broadcasting sports 24-7. Whether you’re a Philly Phanatic, a die-hard Eagles fan, a Flyers groupie or a Sixer at heart, you’ll feel right at home here. Out-of-towners welcome, at your own risk.

Our neighborhood watering hole, Fox & Hound whips the Philly sporting scene into shape with state-of-the-art audio and video systems for your every viewing pleasure and a whopping 35 TVs – a handful of them big screens – with satellite and cable coverage of concurrent national, regional and local sporting events. Phew, that was a mouthful. So are the wings, the quesadillas, and the baby-back ribs. Down in the final stretch of the game? Nothing like a cold one to lift your spirits. Fox & Hounds boasts a full-service bar with more than 100 brands of ales, lagers, stouts and speciality beers from around the world, including about 30 beers on tap.

Oh, Fado. It’s an easy transition from work to play at this cozy Irish pub, with a pint of the finest European draught beers in hand, and international soccer and rugby matches on the big screen. It's like St. Patti's Day everyday here. And to that, we say Slainte!

Another Irish favorite, this two-story bar has long been home turf for sports fans looking to throw one back (or 10, but who’s counting) during the big game. South Street’s so-called “beer authority,” O’Neals serves up 19 beers on draft, among them Belgian, European and American micros. The way we see it, that’s 19 good reasons to really get into the game.

We’re big fans of the Irish Pub for various reasons – the beer flows freely, the potato skins are to-die-for, and the bar is always brimming with attractive young professionals. But back to the category at hand, if you’re looking for a low-key sports bar scene, Irish Pub is right in the mix. They’ve even been known to attract famous sports stars, from time to time. (We’re staking out Chase Utley. You’ll find us at the front bar, on the left.)
