World Café Live sets the gold standard for live music in Philly. This multi-level venue features a broad range of acts and is where lots of well-known artists first started performing. There are several stages, but each has a smaller setting and makes the shows a more intimate experience. There is also a restaurant on the first level so come early and grab some grub before the show. Home to the independent radio station WXPN, World Café defiantly has a unique vibe and is always serving up someone new, making it a place we come back to again and again.

Located in Mt. Airy this place is about 20 minutes from Center City. NXNW features live music Tuesday – Sunday and brings in acts from all across the world. Enjoy the music, food and NONE of the hustle and bustle of downtown at this great escape. Its ambiance is sophisticated, but casual at the same time and is one of our favorite places for live music.

This bar is located in Fairmount and features several different acts a week, mostly rock bands. It’s definitely a really casual scene where the music is the focus, which we love. There are few places where you can listen to quality bands in such an intimate setting with good food and a pretty decent selection of beers at the same time.

Keyber is a Philadelphia favorite located in Olde City. This dive-esque bar features some great live music featuring mostly local Philly bands, but sometimes does pull some more nationally recognized names. With two floors the downstairs usually has a cover charge, but the upstairs is almost always free. Come on a Sunday (our favorite) and they have live music and all you can drink for $10. Yes you read that right, only $10. We almost didn’t believe it ourselves, but it’s true my friends and it’s a deal you’d be stupid to miss.

Located in Manyunk, Grape Street features touring college bands and local acts five nights a week. The weekends tend to populate with college students who enjoy hip-hop and dancing. The music is pretty varied which we like – from alternative, to reggae and blues, it offers a good mix. Located off of the main Manyunk strip there really aren’t many other live music bars in this area so if you are hanging out in the Manyunk area this is definitely your best bet.
