Lets get back to the oceanfront on this one. We haven't been to Awful Arthur's lately. It is time for one. An RX8 owner that you all may know, owns the place and really enjoys having car club gatherings at the business. He always treats us well at the restaurant. Directions are easy and we usually make a group driveout to some place else after the meet.

  • RAISED BED GARDENING  Postal code 23452, United States
    12:30 AM
    Image of RAISED BED GARDENING
Going to make a raised bed garden (a la Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew...). In a nutshell, Square Foot Gardening is the most space efficient gardening method around, where you plant a pre-set amount of plants per square foot. For example, in one square foot, you can plant 16 carrot plants, or 1 tomato plant, or 4 heads of lettuce, or etc... Planting in this manner makes it easier to do weed control. Staggering your planting dates, you can keep a "salad garden" producing all season long! I will have the parts to put it together to explain making the garden (pretty simple... Don't expect to be amazed!), and the special soil mixture... Since it will be winter, and we want to prepare for an early spring harvest, we will also be showing how you can "accessorize" your garden with custom made animal guards (for those of you with curious pets), cold frames (to plant your harvest a few weeks early), and a trellis for those climbing plants. Bring a small container (1-2 gallons), and take home some of the soil mixture to start an indoor garden with... It will be at my place... If you are interested in learning about Square Foot Gardening, you can find both books by Mel Bartholomew on Amazon.com ("Square Foot Gardening" and "All New Square Foot Gardening") (Also visit the official website at http://www.squarefootgardening.com/) Allen
