It's tough to select a definitive number one in this category, but we're going with Cesca, mainly for its versatility. It's a reliable first date option for dinner or you can squeeze in more casually at the bar for drinks and dessert. The lively atmosphere will help you out should the conversation ever run dry. It's romantic without being over the top. It's a solid evening all around.

A close second place for date place on the Upper West Side. It's primarily a dessert place, but you can get drinks as well. It could be ideal if you're not ready to take that huge step of sitting down for an entire meal. The setting is casual, but still nice. Potential downsides: you've just recreated 'You've Got Mail' by picking this for a first date and it's very brightly lit if you're not confident in your silk shirt. Open Mon 12am-2am, 8am-2am; Tue-Thu 8am-2am; Fri 8am-4am; Sat 9am-4am; Sun 9am-12am

We've got this place in the Best Wine Bar category as well, which lends itself nicely to the Best Date Place category. It's a cozy, intimate spot to sip some wine or beer and still get your fill with tapas. The only downside is it may be hard to get a seat, but if you do you'll set up nicely. It gets pretty crowded, but that helps fill any awkward silences that may occur. The spirited, flirty conversation will just flow from your lips. Go get 'em. Open Mon 12am-2am, 4:30pm-1:30am; Tue 4:30pm-1:30am; Wed-Sat 12pm-2am; Sun 12pm-12am

This excellent wine bar on Columbus Ave is slightly roomier than Bin 71 and slightly more romantic making it a better second date spot than first date. It's usually filled with some of UWS's more beautiful people, so don't lose focus and get caught looking around. They've got pretty good food to accompany the wine, but you go there for the vino and the atmosphere. The outdoor seating is ideal for putting your best foot forward.

It's the newer Italian spin-off sister wine bar of Bin 71. In time, we could see Barcibo edge out Bin for its roominess and overall charm. The vibe is pleasant and sophisticated and the wine list is as roomy as the place. They serve small plates of well chosen foods to work with the wine. It's located right near the Loews Lincoln Plaza Movie theatre, but you're more original than that, aren't you?

For a casual, intimate evening out with that special person or someone you hope is a special person, Cafe Ronda is a good call. Located between 71st and 72nd on Columbus Ave, they serve up tasty dishes in a swank, serene setting. We particularly enjoyed the Parilla dishes, especially the skirt steak. Let the Sangria flow. It won't kill your pocketbook.
