A tough call for #1 on this UWS list. Chef Thomas Keller, of French Laundry fame (CA), brings a new addition to New York's Time Warner Center, and its one of the best (if not the best). [FYI - See #6 ranked choice in this category for a few other suggestions beyond the Top 6.]

NOTE: Our local Sneaky Sunday representative is working on developing original commentary to support this recommendation. It should be live very soon. Thank you for your patience and please enjoy this recommendation all the same.

The top sushi place on the UWS, as described elsewhere.

This place is tough to beat when the weather cooperates. A good crowd congregates here after the salt mines to cut loose. It's easy to miss, but just walk down 79th street to the West Side Highway, look for a staircase and head down. The smell of The Hud won't encroach on your enjoyment of their tasty burgers. The views more than make up for the smell and you'll only see a few syringes floating about. Makes for a damn fine afternoon and reminds you why you live in this town. M-F $2 off any drink from 4-7.

A good range of beers in bottle and tap. Mainly, it's just an easy-going joint to kick back with some choice beers or creative coctails. They've got a whole slew of old-school board games for your merriment and a few TV's to catch the game. Not a dive in the classic, you're-gonna-lose-your-job sense, but certainly an enjoyable neighborhoodie place to sip a beer or ten. Open Mon 12am-2am, 5pm-2am; Tue-Wed 5pm-2am; Thu-Fri 5pm-4am; Sat 12pm-4am; Sun 12pm-12am.

Get rid of your chain-snobbery and judge it solely on the satisfaction that comes from biting into one of these juicy monsters. The 7 ounces aren't for amateurs and don't be afraid to take half home your first time. These were made for cowboys out on the open range, not hipsters in the urban jungle. They also make one helluva mean turkey burger if you're only sorta watching your weight. Another key selling point is the variety of toppings. Anything under the son. Buck up, cowboys and cowgirls.

If you're looking for a true nightclub, you're better off going downtown, but this lounge is about as close as you will get...good music, cozy/dark/underground/funky-ish living room decor, but warning that it can be quite crowded/loud on weekends. Daily, 5:30pm-4am

Whether you're kicking back in The Library Bar or swanked out in the Hudson Bar, you're in a good place. The fearless design puts you in the right frame of mind to chill on a higher plane. Order one of their creative libations and find a nice little spot to park it in the indoor our outdoor garden. DJ's aplenty for your ears. Ignore the occasional bout of pretense and bask in the enduring beauty of the - you get the picture.
