We know it's in Brooklyn, but just barely. Visiting Peter Luger's is an other-worldly experience. Tucked into the heart of Williamsburg, Peter's feels like it's on a street some where much further from Manhattan than Brooklyn. We found the people watching fascinating- an odd assortment of bridge and tunnel folks who looked like they had mainly stepped out of the late eighties/early nineties. Even with a reservation, be prepared to wait at the crowded and expensive bar area. The steaks are perfect, which is what you came for, but we weren't impressed with the fish option we tried. I guess that's what we get for trying to branch out... 'when in Rome'...
Strip House

The finest meat always comes at quite a price, but once you’ve bitten into your perfectly cooked steak you’ll surely recognize the quality you’re paying for. Strip House is the Capitol of steak houses, leading the way in fine steak preparation while others try to replicate their precision. The signature dish is the New York strip steak accompanied by the infamous goose fat potatoes. The burlesque figures that adorn the walls accommodate the parties of suited men that fill the majority of the restaurant, many of whom have come from out of state for an evening of carnal bliss. Even celebrities know that Strip House is a meat Mecca and frequent the restaurant with their beautiful entourages.

Dylan Prime serves as TriBeCa’s premier steakhouse, serving up delectable meats in the sauce of your choice. The menu includes many non-meat options—whether fish or vegetable oriented—though Dylan’s fame is obviously credited to its array of high quality carnivore treats. The restaurant is divided into two separate dining rooms—one a more formal, quieter space, the other a bar room sprinkled with tables for drinks or eating. The bar offers some fantastic wines by the glass and servers are knowledgeable of the menu and helpful in their assistance. Be sure to make reservations as everyone else below Canal knows where to find the best steaks downtown.

Macelleria

Though Macelleria prepares excellent quality meats, they also have a wide variety of strong dishes should you be the only steak fan in your party. Located in the hopping Meatpacking District, Macelleria is perfect in the summer when you can sit outside and watch the models—who probably haven’t seen red meat in years—pass by. The restaurant occupies what once was a meat warehouse and as the name is Italian for “butcher shop,” the entire place is adorned to celebrate the cow. The signature dish is a porterhouse for two and though priced at $83, this doesn’t impede its popularity. The steak is seasoned and grilled perfectly, if only the smiling cow on the wall knew what was really going on.
BLT Prime

BLT Steak, BLT Fish, and now BLT Prime (the BLT refers to "Bistro Laurent Tourondel" NOT a sandwich)... apparently George Foreman is naming these places but we love it! BLT Restaurants do as good of a job as anyone in the city and we think you will agree. The restaurant itself isn't overstated but at the same time is nice enough for any occasion which is a rare balance. BLT Prime has dishes from BLT Steak, dishes from BLT Fish and dishes of its own so it should please everyone in your party. Entrees range from about $25-$75 and there wasn't a single item on the menu we wouldn't highly recommend to our users. Enjoy
