Luckily renowned mixologist Sasha Petraske’s Little Branch is easily accessible and free of attitude while serving some of New York’s prime cocktails. Little Branch is a respectful place for a drink—loud, obnoxious parties are not tolerated—an ideal place to actually get to know your date while enjoying drink combinations you’ve never imagined. Arriving at Little Branch is an event in itself. Its exterior is nondescript as if the place would rather not be discovered. This as well as the mellow color scheme and furnishings account for the subdued ambiance that facilitates making conversation. The service is impressive as each customer receives dedicated attention. On weekends the line outside is unpredictable so play it safe and get there around 11 PM.

Though The Dove is located along one of the West Village’s rowdiest streets, the ambiance is the complete opposite and provides a perfect place for a drink and pleasantly audible conversation. The Victorian interior has a well executed modern edge to it and the drinks are reasonably priced around $9. The bartenders are warm and friendly and can assist you in choosing between their 20 wines offered by the glass. Most patrons stop in for a drink and find themselves staying the night as The Dove is conducive to mellower, friendlier night out. The space is a popular selection for private events which they are rumored to execute perfectly.

If you have trouble finding your way, look for the white-gray Vespa that’s eternally parked outside. Bar Carrera is an adorable neighborhood establishment that woos patrons in, for the good time inside is visible from a glance off the sidewalk. Though the bar is not as quiet as other date bars, the variety and quality of wine and tapas are certain to impress. The bar features its infamous shot-sized portions of flavors like almond gazpacho or chickpea puree. Another must is the fresh strawberry sangria combining the flavors of mint and cardamom. The recent on location expansion enables more patrons to simultaneously enjoy the great experience of Bar Carrera without worrying about the hassle of lines.

, the Lobby Swizzel Stick Bar and Cafe Adelaide are New Orleans staples. THIS IS THE ULTIMATE IN SNEAKINESS!!!! You don’t believe us? Go out and try to find it. There is no sign on the door and curtains blacking out the windows. The bar stays open late and for those that make it till closing, get a little bowl of chicken noodle soup to help you sober up. Employees Only is reminiscent of a 1920's speakeasy- sneaky even in its inspiration.

Arguably the best hidden gem in the city, you must bear the smell of dead fish in Chinatown and dare to get lost trying to find Friedman’s Alley. The Mac and Cheese will make your mouth water for days on end, but my personal favorite is the artichoke dip. I’m currently in the progress of trying to bribe a busboy to steal the recipe. It’s as close to comfort food heaven I’ll ever get. But be prepared to wait, as everyone else wants to try it too. The rustic décor is interesting if not a little off putting. I’ve never been a fan of eating quail as I stare at its stuffed uncle on the mantle. But the drinks are stunning artistic concoctions and the food is to die for.

Don't dare show up with more than 4 people at this hidden Asian inspired cocktail bar. Have yourself a classic cocktail and a snack as you gaze out the second story window over Cooper Square. You will impress your date with the hidden entrance through the Chinese restaurant downstairs. Classy, yet low key, this is the perfect place to get to know each other without overdoing it. Open Daily from 7pm-2:30am
