What started as the MudTruck, which is still running smoothly by the uptown Astor Place subway entrance, soon became Mudspot, the coffee shop on East 9th Street. A neighborhood favorite, the coffeehouse is always packed, patrons pouring onto the street or the back garden in nice weather, chatting and reveling with coffee in hand. They may offer some of the best coffee in New York, but their strength extends further and as of recent, their food has become a big hit. Whether it’s eggs and muffins in the morning or paninis and salads throughout the day, you’ll find yourself stuffing your face in the comfortable brick and tiled interior beside a giant ceramic mug of the perfect coffee.
