Aroma Kitchen & Wine Bar’s space is conveniently versatile and is suitable for either a quiet, romantic evening or a fun celebration in one of its private rooms. Dinner is well priced and won’t burn a hole in your pocket, though if you’re smart you’ll take advantage of their Sunday night $25 Prix Fixe.

Inoteca, however, isn’t as much a wine bar as it’s a restaurant with mediocre food and fantastic, exciting wines for any palate. The expert and friendly staff is prodigious at matching wines to your tastes but only if you’ve won the first battle and have landed yourself a table. The wait at Inoteca stretches beyond 2 hours—no reservations for parties under 6—and though the food is well received by some, others claim it’s nothing new and never really peaks. Credit is due to the warm space, which makes for a classic New York-café evening. Luckily for Lower East Side revelers Inoteca serves late into the evening.

Luckily this popular downtown spot is located on both the east and west sides of town, both bars strong in their field. Bar Veloce is suitable for all types, whether you’re grabbing an after-work drink or wooing your date after dinner. The food is good for a snack or dessert as the place serves best for merely grabbing a drink. Many complain that the East Village location is more cramped than an actor’s apartment, but those that don’t mind pack the place up on all nights of the week. It’s perfectly fine to put your evening in the hands of the bartender—they are wine enthusiasts with an extensive knowledge of their vintages and effortlessly guide your palate in the right direction.
