And if that still isn’t enough, hit the pinball machine or the video games lining the walls while you take advantage of the 2-for-1 daily happy hour. The crowd is commended for being down to earth and this friendly atmosphere—not the pool table—is what constantly brings customers back; oh, and obviously the jukebox, for which you’ll stay a while, waiting about an hour and a half to hear your song. During that time chill out with your posse in the comfy booths if you’re lucky enough to snag one.

The Shah of happy hours is Ace Bar, taking place between 2 and 7 PM 6 days a week, offering 14 different beers on tap. The large bar holds two pool tables, a jukebox with some kickin’ tunes, a Simpsons pinball machine, and some video games. To top it all off one wall is lined with a bookcase of nostalgic lunchboxes featuring old school favorites like Pac-Man and Scooby Doo. Though Ace Bar was once a haven away from the comfortably trendy, weekends often find a line outside full of loud, exhibitionist NYU kids.

Whiskey Ward evokes that feeling of old with its exposed brick walls, wood furnishings, and lists of drinks written above the bar on chalkboards. It lives up to its emphasis on Whiskey featuring over a dozen bourbons, whiskeys, and scotches, as well as 27 beers. Fight for your shot at the solitary pool table.
