However, the Berry Hill location makes it a great weekend date spot for those who are looking for something different. The Yellow Porch keeps things interesting with an ever-changing menu of Southern specials. Across the street from the Green Hills Kroger and hidden behind a fence, the Greenhouse is tough to find but easy to love. First off, it is indeed, a greenhouse - complete with hanging plants and a gravel floor. With it's tropical vibe, it is a great place for a casual after-work cocktail or a late-night lager. The Green Hills area is a nightlife wasteland, so don't expect to bar-hop. Either start or end your evening here. Hours: Daily 5pm-2am

The Stockyark is established as one of Music City's historic architectural treasures and regulary recognized as one of the top steakhouses in the country. Problem is, you need a GPS to find the obsure location not far from the city jail. While there ask to see the display of the oldest bottle of wine (circa 1776) known in the United States. Don't let transportation stop you from visiting the restaurant. If you don't feel like a treasure hunt, take advantage of the complimentary transportation to and from area hotels. Open Monday-Thursday 5pm-10pm; Friday-Saturday 5pm-11pm; Sun 5pm-9pm

Arnold's is the place where true Southern gentleman escape downtown for a home-style meal just like Mama used to fix. A true melting pot, high-powered lawyers in suits mix comfortably with future defendants. Everything is homemade daily and served buffet style. It's a great choice for home made pies or some mighty good looking banana pudding. Stop in and say hi to Arnold as he dishes out roast beef that melts in your mouth! Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

Though not as well known as cross-town rival Prince’s, this north Nashville soul food shack brings serves up some seriously spicy chicken. Order your deep fried, lava encrusted quarter chicken at 100 (for first timers), 200 (for the mildly insane) and 400 (for those with a semi-serious death wish). The tiny storefront serves all food in to-go containers because there are only seats for about 5 people at the cramped counter. One of the few spots in town equally favored by local thugs and local bankers - definitely worth a visit if you can take the heat. Hours: Tue-Thu 11am-7pm, Fri-Sat 11am-2:30am, Sun 11am-3pm

Kind of a secret. Go... but don't tell anybody. Service was like my going to my grandma's house for a holiday dinner: sweet and courteous, showing sincere concern that I had a good experience. If you're feeling regal, Dee's offers a massive turkey leg that's a bit like something Henry VIII might have dined on, though it barely fits into the Styrofoam container they outfit you with. Sides include beans, fries, mac & cheese, and fried okra. Want to branch out from the traditional BBQ pork even more, try the some of the best fried catfish in Nashville!
