Dinner is preceded by a simple salad with a fabulous red wine vinegar house dressing and amazing rolls swimming in a heavy garlic butter sauce...only problem is, once dinner is served there is no room. Portion sizes are huge...better plan on a doggie bag (but my guess is that the doggie won't get any!)

Some people insist this is the best Italian in Nashville - well, it isn't. But it belongs on the list because it is local and popular, mainly due to location. Located on 21st, it's easy to get to and you can even walk there from Vanderbilt. Hours Sun-Thu 11am-10pm Fri-Sat 11am-10:30pm

Tangredi's is a cute Italian Kitchen on Elliston Place. They have a couple outdoor tables but the inside is the best place to sit. Even in the hot afternoon the room is cool and comfortable with the wooden shutters closed. It's really relaxing to sit inside. Go with a friend and share the generous portions that are provided.

A product of the same management team that brought Nashville the Watermark, the miro district opened in the summer of 2008 to much acclaim. If you haven't been yet, you have a responsibility to yourself to get there - soon. From the stone crab claws to grill strip steak everything is first-class. Located in the shimmering new Adelicia condominiums the refined, miro crowd feasts on a variety of savory dishes with a common Mediterrean flare. Good news is that if you fall in love with the food there are still a few condo units available for a steal.
