If you want a sneaky picnic with delicious BBQ, head over to Hog Heaven. It's served out of a sneaky shack that's in walkable distance from the Parthenon. The White Sauce is the specialty...be careful because you won't want to go anywhere else after you try it. So throw a party, grab some pork, and head over to Centennial Park. Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-7pm

Perhaps unappreciated because the chain originated in Birmingham, I have yet to encounter a Nashvillian who has a bad thing to say about either Jim or Nick. Huge portions, tasty homeade sauces, and addictive cheese muffins all come standard. If your hungry go for the gigantic, freak-sized baked potatoes stuffed with BBQ meat. The Brunswick stew always makes a stellar side to round out the meal. Hours: Sun-Thurs 10:30 to 9:30, Fri & Sat 10:30 to 10:30

Texans transplants always complain about the lack of "real" beef barbeque in town until they visit the Judge. A regular sandwich piles about half a dozen quarter-inch slices of beef brisket on a sesame seed bun, the large nearly twice that. A plate gets you two sides as well from a trio of choices: baked beans, fresh-cut french fries or coleslaw. Recently relocated to the upper deck of Greer Stadium, you can now catch a game while enjoying some of the best BBQ in town. Hours of Operation: Monday- Tuesday 11:00am - 3:00pm, Wednesday - Saturday 11:00am - 10:00pm, Closed Sunday

Kind of a secret. Go... but don't tell anybody. Service was like my going to my grandma's house for a holiday dinner: sweet and courteous, showing sincere concern that I had a good experience. If you're feeling regal, Dee's offers a massive turkey leg that's a bit like something Henry VIII might have dined on, though it barely fits into the Styrofoam container they outfit you with. Sides include beans, fries, mac & cheese, and fried okra. Want to branch out from the traditional BBQ pork even more, try the some of the best fried catfish in Nashville!

Jack's Bar-B-Que was the first casual restaurant on Broadway to open after many years of decline on lower Broadway. It started off as a joke, but the “Pigs Over Broadway” have become famous and everyone knows that it's the home of Jack's BBQ. Jack's features side dishes that make you imagine there is some old grandmother that has been laboring in the kitchen since the wee hours of the morning. Hours: Monday-Wednesday 10:30am-3pm, Thursday 10:30-10pm, Friday-Saturday 8:30am-10pm, closed Sunday

A Nashville staple. Kind of a hike down Highway 100, but well worth it. If you're new to town, you haven't been to Nashville until you've eaten at Loveless. Loveless has a different featured item on the menu every day. Even Katie Couric liked the biscuits. Hours: Open Mon-Thu 8am-8pm; Fri-Sun 8am-9pm
