Compatriot Doug Carpenter will speak on how Tennessee became the fourth state to officially recognize April 19th as Patriot's Day--or when the "shot was heard around the world" at the North Bridge in Concord, MA. We have scheduled this month's luncheon meeting at 12:30 to allow members to then attend the Tennessee Society's Patriot's Day ceremony scheduled for later at 2:30 pm beside Andrew Jackson's tomb. The Chapter meeting includes a box lunch at $12.00 each. The ceremony requires admittance to the Hermitage site at a group rate of $12.00 each. The combined two programs will cost $24.00. Members in Revolutionary uniform are admitted free!

"The Nature Circle" is an interactive group made up of nature-themed stories, puppets, songs, and crafts for ages 3-5. Children are encouraged to bring an item (examples: favorite book, stuffed animal, or photograph) that relates to each week's theme. Since its inception in 1976, the Mayor's Advisory Committee has promoted public education and awareness, and advocated for persons with disabilities and their family members.

The artists will be recognized at the 28th Annual Awards Celebration of the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Thursday, October 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts auditorium. Support for the awards celebration provided by the Frist Center. The public is welcome.
