Currently under construction, but set for its grand re-opening in Fall 2009, Santa Monica Place sits at the end of the Third Street Promenade just two blocks from the Santa Monica Pier and the beach. Macy's is currently the only large department store open, but this one will be worth the wait because like anything else happening in Santa Monica: if you build it they will come.

This mall, built in 1985, no longer sparkles like it used to, but still has the amenities and necessary objects of an indoor shopping mall—including a charming movie theatre that shows a myriad of foreign and art house flicks. Above the three shopping levels soars an arching glass skylight roof. Shopaholics, let’s cut to the chase: Nordstrom, Macy's, Pavilions Supermarket, Barnes & Noble, Ann Taylor, BCBG, Banana Republic, Bebe, Bombay Company, Charles David, Express, Gap, and more are there for your shopping pleasure.
