Open strictly to cater to the breakfast and lunch crowd, people can’t get enough of The Griddle. Although you’ll be waiting in line long enough to appreciate anything that enters your mouth, the menu (filled with smirk-worthy puns) has anything and everything to please your group. Be prepared to share or have a silent eating contest with yourself, these portions are gi-nor-mous. Top sellers include the French-press coffee, banana or pumpkin pancakes, the griddle-wich (a heavenly concoction of peanut butter, strawberry jam and chocolate-covered bananas) and the LaVida Loca Burger classically wrapped in wax paper. Although it’s a bit trendy, it’s well worth putting up with the posers to dine at this Hollywood staple. Hours: Mon-Fri 7am-4pm, Sat-Sun 8am-4pm

A delightfully quaint haven sheltered from the hustle and bustle of 3rd St., Joan’s is always buzzing for lunch. Sprinkled with a few small tables inside, the place to sit is on the sidewalk patio intended for enjoying the sunny atmosphere. The menu consists of traditional lunch fare with a French, almost Mediterranean emphasis, such as the Butter Lettuce Salad with organic cranberries and French feta or the Ficele Sandwich with Fromage d'affinois & apricot glazed ham. While the salads and sandwiches leave little to be desired, many find themselves hooked to the endless selection of quality cheeses and sugary confections. Believe it or not, their cupcakes give dessert-dominating Sprinkles a run for their money. Hours: Mon-Sat 8am-8pm, Sun 8am-6pm

Industry-types; starving artists, lowly assistants, A-list celebs and their uptight suits all have a hankering for this healthy and delicious American fare. A lunch mega-hit, Toast has an hour wait on most weekends but weekdays never have you waiting more then 10 or 15 minutes, if at all. Their salads, soups and sandwiches are all a solid choice that will make you want to come back time and time again. It’s hip, healthy (except for those yummy cupcakes) and happening. Just don’t forget to bring your obnoxiously tiny dog to give you some extra attention while scoping out the scene on Third Street. Hours: Daily 7:30am–10pm

In the heart of LA’s trendy Robertson neighborhood Cuvee is the perfect spot to stop off for a quick (and affordable) lunch after spending WAY too much money at Kitson (but hey, at least you got to see Paris and maybe even the hot mess that is Britney). Daily made fish and chicken specials as well as pasta salads and classic sandwiches satisfy a lunch craving with quality food. Take it back to your desk at New Line Cinema or hang out and people watch at one of their outdoor tables overlooking Robertson Blvd. However, don’t expect much in the customer service department: it’s counter service only and, although it’s obvious they put most of their efforts into the food, it’s efficient and there’s no bullsh*t which we can appreciate. Hours: Mon-Fri 7am-8pm, Sat 8am-7pm, Sun 9am-5pm

Serving the best – and biggest - matzo ball soup in town, Jerry’s menu is loaded with traditional Jewish deli cuisine that even the newest LA resident can appreciate. Sink your teeth into their hearty pastrami sandwich, tuna melt or meat loaf. The steak fries are crispy perfection, the hummus is freshly made and they never run out of lox or bagels. Whether it’s a quick bite or a lazy lunch, you certainly won’t be able to resist getting your mouth around their giant soggy matzo balls (sorry, we couldn’t resist the inappropriate matzo ball joke). Oh, and apparently they’re famous… in case you didn’t get that from the name. Hours: Daily 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
