Also home to Ron Herman, Fred Segal on Melrose is LA's most famous boutique. This amalgam of designer clothes and accessories is a favorite of every Angeleno regardless of celeb status (although it never gets old shopping with Jen Aniston hangin' at the next rack!). Expect to find couture mixed with budget off-the-rack name brands such as Deborah Sweeny and Cindy Lee as well as killer accessories from designers such as Teri Bienvenue. It doesn't take more than flipping through the weekly rag mags to figure out that Kitson takes the crown in starting trends based on its high-style (high-roller) celeb crowd. A must-stop shop for spotting celebs and picking up the latest in funky, cutesy and trendy, this often-crowded boutique has expanded to several locations just down the street from the original. With a return policy lasting only four days, it's often worth the trip just to stop by and see what trends Kitson is cooking up in the hot-right-now category. Designers are always being refreshed but don't forget to grab something from the store's own line of Kitson branded merch. Get there early in the day to get a meter, as the competition for scoring a parking space is pretty high, and the nearby pay garages can get steep if you're there for more than a hour. Disguised as a thrift shop, Wasteland is really a retirement home for fashions from seasons (and decades) past. And that's a good thing. Carrying everything from designer name brands to forgotten styles from before you were born, Wasteland offers shoppers solid bargains at generally low prices. The selection for men and women is equally eclectic, while the extensive options available ensure that everyone who steps foot in this re-retailer won't be hurrying out -there's just too much clothing, shoes and accessories to browse through.
