Best Outdoor Shopping in Los Angeles - Hollywood

Map My Location
This is the street where most paparazzi make their money (no offense to Rodeo Dr.). With high-profile Kitson scattered multiple times throughout this strip, celebs, visitors and locals come here to find the latest in boutique fashion. Robertson is also home to Tori Burch, Lisa Klein (second home to Paris and Lindsey), True Religion, Curve, Madison and even an Armani Home store. Lunching includes the always buzzing Ivy, Newsroom café and the quaint Cuvee, all of which are generally packed with celebs or nearby New Line Cinema’s power players. Hours: Vary by store

A colossal outdoor center for shopping and people watching, the Grove is accommodating to a day of leisure with out of town friends or a quick spending spree. The attached Farmers Market provides an ideal spot to grab a bite of various cuisines in a community setting (a better and more authentic version of a food court – sans Sbarro). Standard shopping includes a massive Barnes & Noble, Abercrombie, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Anthropologie and Forever 21. The Grove also features a trolly that takes strollers from one end to the other (including upper-deck seating!) and a state-of-the-art movie theater featuring all the major releases and even some premieres. Hours: Mon-Thu 10am-9pm, Fri, Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 11am-8pm
While the main shopping district lies east of LaCienega and west of LaBrea, sadly Melrose Ave has recently had a break up. A staple of must-stop shopping for residents and visitors alike, you can find high-end stores such as Fred Segal and Betsy Johnson west of Fairfax, while popular second-hand stores such as Aaardvark and Wasteland reside in the hipster-punk strip east of Fairfax. Other name-brand shops include (and we are not discriminating between the posh and hipster here) Christian Audigier and his money-maker Ed Hardy, Von Dutch, Max Azria sporting a funky façade, Urban Outfitters, Jonathan Adler and Agent Provacateur. Boutiques include Red Balls, Nichole $10, Slow, Sportie LA and Retail Slut. Parking can take a minute or two, so grab your walking shoes and prepare to spend the whole day – you’ll definitely leave with great one-of-a-kind finds in all price ranges. Hours: Vary by store
Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, the famous Rodeo Drive isn’t as snooty and upscale as its reputation suggests. Yes, it houses some very upscale boutiques such as Fendi, Tiffany’s, Gucci, Cartier, Harry Winston, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Chenel, but it’s not like you’re going there to purchase a $7,000 Louis Vuitton (or are you?). Ignore the price tags and don’t let pricey material possessions stop you from enjoying the rich history of the place, or at least reenacting the movie Pretty Woman by taking a picture at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel (formerly the Regent Beverly Wilshire). There are plenty of great restaurants to choose from, and if you aren’t planning to eat at Spago or the Crustacean, just grab a seat at the Beverly Hills Diner. Or for you pizza loving suburbanites, check out the nearby CPK. Hours: Vary by store

Think high-end New York shopping when preparing to visit Sunset Plaza on the fames Sunset Strip. The usual celebs, tourists and local Cadillac-drivers flock to this poshly overpriced hangout, which is sprinkled with boutiques and European outdoor café’s. Shops include D&G, Roberto Cavalli, Madison, Ana Sui and O. Grab a table at Le Petit Four, Café Primo, Chin Chin, Café Med or Dolce Groups popular Ketchup. Many “on the cusp” (aka out of work) actors hang here to sip coffee and update their MySpace pages. Hours: Vary by store.

Ranked in the top malls worldwide, this newly renovated behemoth boasts not only unique stores, but a monster food court and one of the best movie theaters in LA. Top shopping stops include Bloomies, Macy’s, Kate Spade, Max Mara, Restoration Hardware, Tiffany’s, Zara, Martin + Osa, United Colors of Benetton and the always amazing Container Store. If it’s dining you’re interested in, head for the infamous Pink Taco restaurant in the food court! You can also find Seiki-Shi Sushi, Pink Berry, Lawry’s Carvery and the easy pleaser, Fuddruckers. Parking can get a bit confusing, but you’ll have it down in no time and will be soon addicted to all that Westfield Century City has to offer. Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 11am-6pm
