This eight-story shopping center lies in one of the most central locations in Los Angeles at the epicenter of the Thirty Mile Zone (if you don’t understand what TMZ means, get your SAG friends to explain it to you… if you don’t know what SAG is, you may need to get out of LA). Bordered by LaCienega, Beverly, San Vicente and Third St. you can find most local residents stopping in regularly to pick up a little something for the weekend at the 120 high end to low end stores the reside within. Home to the Kodak Theater, this shopping center is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in LA. Not only does it have quality stores but its also always a-buzz with sidewalk entertainment and great people watching. If you plan to visit this shopping center, be sure to take your time to stroll the Hollywood Walk of Fame, compare your hands and feet to those famous celebs outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater or drop a dollar in the Tin Man’s hat. Monday and Tuesday nights you can often stand outside the theaters and watch the red carpet arrivals for the latest movie premiere, or if you’re just in it for the shopping go on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon when it’s slightly less chaotic. A refreshing shopping spot away from the sometimes-snooty Hollywood tourist traps, Fox Hills Mall is a definite neighborhood shopping center. Housing key stores like Old Navy, Lane Bryant, Victoria’s Secret, and Forever 21, you won’t find the Gucci’s and Fendi’s here (or the attitudes associated with them!). The closest mall to LAX, Fox Hills is perfect for quick change before picking up your long distance love from the airport. Grab something cheap –it won’t be on for long! To be honest, this mall is… how shall we put it…still up and coming. Although the aesthetics leave a bit to be desired, the shopping stores are standard and the location is central. The three shopping levels include Macy’s, Nordstrom, a great Barnes & Noble, BCBG, Banana Republic, Express, Gap and many other typical mall stores. What draws the crowd is the attached brand spankin’ new movie theater that houses many indie flicks as well as major blockbusters. Tickets rarely sell out here and the accommodations are stellar, including a bar/lounge that serves booze and quick bites before the show. Hours: Mon-Fri 10am-9pm, Sat 10am-8pm, Sun 11am-6pm
