This Sunset Strip boutique hotel boasts California-minimalist design in a chic environment. Reservations at the Mondrian get you a pass into the hot Skybar that encircles the hotel pool, where celebs can often be found lounging on the plush couches and sipping a cocktail (while the rest of us wait in line!). The Mondrian also houses one of the best restaurants on the Strip – Asia de Cuba, serving incomparable Asian-Latino fusion. Great for people on extended stay, each of the 237 rooms comes equipped with a kitchen and a large desk to get some quality work time in. It can get a bit rowdy in the evenings, so if you room faces Skybar and you’re not into partying, you may want to request a room on the opposite side.

The Thompson Beverly Hills, renovated in 2000, is located on Wilshire Boulevard, in the Heart of Beverly Hills and just off the exclusive shopping address of Rodeo Drive. The hotel is a stone’s throw from both Malibu and Santa Monica beaches. Of course, clocking in time at the rooftop pool with stunning views of Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, and world-famous Hollywood Hills may be a better option than getting sand between your tootsies!

Talk about old-Hollywood, the Roosevelt has been in existence since 1927 and has seen regulars such as the Rat Pack, Clark Gable and icon Marilyn Monroe, who supposedly still haunts the hotel. Home to the very first Academy Awards, this landmark underwent major renovations in the 80s and is still thriving as a mixture of old and new, and is one of LA’s hottest night-life spots. Teddy’s is THE go-to lounge to mingle with celebs and get a taste of the good life. Rated amongst the top hotel pools in Los Angeles, the pool deck is always hopping with guests staying at the over 60 cabana rooms with prime access to the famed Tropicana bar.

The completely un-standard Standard hotel encompasses the absolute essence of chic. Located on the always-buzzing Sunset Strip, guests flock here for the central location and the unparalleled posh atmosphere. From the upside-down signage to the nude statue lounging behind the welcome desk, this minimalist Warhol-esque hotel features a popular roof deck pool, organic bath products, quality bedding and much more. The Purple Lounge plays host to the hipster guests and LA residents alike – plus if you find that “special someone,” a hotel room awaits you just steps away.

An art deco hotel gem in the heart of West Hollywood, The Grafton lays claim to a gorgeous Mediterranean outdoor garden with a non-chlorinated pool, a fitness center and access to the one of a kind steak restaurant and bar – Balboa. The stylized rooms pay homage to American history and Hollywood’s finest, including the Rat Pack Suite decked out in oversized photos of Frank, Sammy and the gang. The Grafton is on the smaller side with a little over 100 rooms, but the experience is big and the price is reasonable for the great amenities and location.

This hidden Hollywood gem sits quietly in a residential area, just steps away from the famed Sunset Strip. With panoramic views of the city, a salt-water pool and Privato lounge, its recent multi-million dollar facelift transformed this old apartment complex into a relaxation zone that is a favorite of music and film industry types. The rooms, which are actually more like suites, are perfectly equipped for that quick business trip or romantic rendezvous. Just make sure you get a room on the backside – and on a higher floor - because with its prime location, it’s close to the busy sounds of LA. Call ahead to see if they are offering suite…uh, sweet deals.

We’d like to say that it’s all about the hotel, but it’s really all about the rooftop bar at this Andres Balazs hotspot where breathtaking views are almost as good as the Hollywood hotties positioned around the heated pool sipping the latest “it” cocktail on the - get this - vibrating waterbed pods. While the rooms aren’t anything to write home about, the unique, modern details and happening pool scene that features some of the hottest DJs in LA certainly is. Just don’t stay there if you have a big morning meeting unless you packed your earplugs. If you’re looking to stay at a very “LA” hotel, the Standard is choice.

Close to many of LA’s must-see spots like the Getty Center, it’s perfect for the out of towner who’s looking for something a little more intimate or the Beverly Hills Betty looking for a sunny lunch spot. Make sure to ask the concierge to assist you with your sight-seeing adventures - many of the services are free of charge to hotel guests.

There are only 49-rooms on the property but don't let the size fool you... there is a nice outdoor pool, spa services, fitness room, and business center. The outdoor pool is the perfect place to enjoy a few drinks and because of the size of the hotel you should enjoy some nice privacy.

You can channel your inner glamour pus at this intimate Mediterranean style hotel that is a mere steps way from the posh Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.
