You won't believe what these people can do with flapjacks, mind boggling! Here's a tasty example: "A shot of espresso and chocolate chips folded into our buttermilk recipe." That's just the tip of the iceberg. The artistry they put into their flapjacks carries over to their egg specialties. Go for the "Some like it hot" scramble, a delicious array of chicken tequila sausage, pico de gallo, avocado and all kinds of spicy sauces." Just close your eyes and point to something. Everything pleases. What hangover? Open Weekdays 7am-4pm; Weekends 8am-4pm

This West Hollywood local restaurant is a down-to-earth version of their neighboring posh hotspots (some even pronounce it Tasté with a hint of sarcasm). T fun, friendly (and most importantly, unpretentious) staff garnish the menu that consists of classic breakfast, lunch and dinner items with a comfort flare (mac & cheese is to die for). Stop in on a Monday night to get any bottle of wine ½ off (under $90) or try the aphrodisiac prix fixe, only available during a full moon. Your pocketbook will thank you, especially since you’ve spent a small fortune supporting your friend’s budding music career. Hours: Mon 5:30pm-10pm Tue-Thu 11:30am-10pm, Fri 11:30am-11:30pm, Sat 10:30am-11pm, Sun 10:30am-3pm

The dress code is casual among the white picket fence of The Ivy's front patio. From afar, you'd expect to find Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn dashing by on their way to another misadventure. But hold on, this isn't Missouri we're talking about, this is LA, baby. Look a little closer and you'll notice the wealthy and famous indulging in some comfort food and stiff drinks. Take a step close enough to read the menu and you'll see that people are paying big bucks to be there. The draw of The Ivy is that it's one of THE best places to be seen, especially among celebrities. And after enjoying The Ivy's patio on a breezy afternoon with a refreshing beverage, you'll understand why. Hours: Mon-Fri 11:30am-11pm, Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 10:30am-10pm

Once a private Hollywood home, this club’s patio is the place to be in LA. Where else can you walk into an Ultra Lounge and catch a foreign film or fashion show on the overhead projection? It’s not easy to get in, though, so at least make it appear as if you and your crew want bottle service until close. The ratio of guys to girls is quite advantageous, too, if you have a Y chromosome.

It's not so much a happy hour as it is happy hours - plural. For Fat Fish, happy hours are a daily occurrence. In fact, they like their happy hours so much that Sunday-Wednesday, they hold two separate happy hours (from 5-7pm and 10-11pm, respectively). With a variety of rolls priced at less than $4 and homerun hitters such as Shrimp Tempura and Sweet & Spicy Prawns sliding in at $6 and under, Fat Fish is making a run at LA's top spot for happy hour sushi. Oh, and did we mention that premium cold sakes are only three bills? Hours: Sun-Thu 5pm-11pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-12am

Comedy is hit or miss and the acts at The Laugh Factory are no exception. But when they hit, boy are they funny. This well-known showroom has been showcasing big names as well as up-and-coming talent since 1979. Richard Pryor was The Laugh Factory's first comedian and since his appearance, thousands of others have followed in his footsteps. As noted above, not all are hilarious, but enough of the jokesters are funny enough to make coming here worth your while. The long lines will likely be the least humorous part of your Laugh Factory experience. Hours: Daily 8pm-2am

This Sunset Strip boutique hotel boasts California-minimalist design in a chic environment. Reservations at the Mondrian get you a pass into the hot Skybar that encircles the hotel pool, where celebs can often be found lounging on the plush couches and sipping a cocktail (while the rest of us wait in line!). The Mondrian also houses one of the best restaurants on the Strip – Asia de Cuba, serving incomparable Asian-Latino fusion. Great for people on extended stay, each of the 237 rooms comes equipped with a kitchen and a large desk to get some quality work time in. It can get a bit rowdy in the evenings, so if you room faces Skybar and you’re not into partying, you may want to request a room on the opposite side.

Often referred to as Ali at the Cottage, Ali Hadjian is as popular with his clients as Britney is with child-service advocates. It's not often that you find a stylist who knows your hair better than you, so when you do find that special someone, you hold on to them tightly. When it comes to your golden (or brunette or black or gray or red) locks, Ali tends to them with tender care – from cut to color to highlights to treatments. And he achieves his dramatic results by actually listening to what you want. Many joyful tears have been shed after a visit to Ali at the cottage because, honestly, he's that good. The Getty might just be the single greatest thing that Los Angeles rich folks did with their money. Totally free and open to the public, the Getty houses a rotating slew of world-class art exhibits and offers some of the most amazing views of the city. The best part? The tram ride from the parking structure up to the museum that sits atop the best real estate in the state of Cali. Although parking is $8, there is a cheap café where you can grab some lunch and relax. Whether you’re into art, or just into sunshine amidst modern architecture, you will find yourself spending Saturday afternoons at the Getty, time and time again. Hours: Tue-Thu, Sun 10am-6pm, Fri-Sat 10am-9pm.

Even the most novice fashionistas can recognize those famous blue and red stripes that accompany the signature name, Fred Segal. Also home to Ron Herman, Fred Segal on Melrose is LA's most famous boutique. This amalgam of designer clothes and accessories is a favorite of every Angeleno regardless of celeb status (although it never gets old shopping with Jen Aniston hangin' at the next rack!). Expect to find couture mixed with budget off-the-rack name brands such as Deborah Sweeny and Cindy Lee as well as killer accessories from designers such as Teri Bienvenue. They even have a café that is a destination in itself, especially with the easy-as-cake parking in the large lot. Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 12pm-6pm

This eight-story shopping center lies in one of the most central locations in Los Angeles at the epicenter of the Thirty Mile Zone (if you don’t understand what TMZ means, get your SAG friends to explain it to you… if you don’t know what SAG is, you may need to get out of LA). Bordered by LaCienega, Beverly, San Vicente and Third St. you can find most local residents stopping in regularly to pick up a little something for the weekend at the 120 high end to low end stores the reside within. From Macy’s, Burberry, Ben Sherman and Gucci to H&M, Wet Seal and Forever 21 you can always find what you’re looking for. Hours: Mon-Fri 10am-9pm, Sat 10am-8pm, Sun 11am-6pm

The sun never sets on the Sunset Strip. And it also has yet to set on The Roxy, one of LA's most celebrated music venues, which has been doing the whole live music thing since 1973. If any venue has earned the right to name drop, The Roxy has. Neil Young played the opening night. Springsteen played here. So did Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, Miles Davis and a 'lil group called Guns N' Roses. The sound system is arguably the best in the city and The Roxy is just small enough to provide that intimate feel you've been lacking since your college sweetheart moved out. Hours: Daily 8pm-2am

The Getty is FREE! That price is unbeatable. Just try to beat it. You can't. You will have to pay for parking, but considering all the European paintings, drawings, manuscripts, sculpture and decorative arts, and European and American photographs you'll see, the eight bucks isn't so bad. Plus, the Getty is continuously rotating their exhibits, so each time you come there's something new for your eyes to behold. Oh, and did we mention it's free? Hours: Tues-Thurs 10am-6pm, Fri-Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 10am-6pm

The Greek Theatre has had a love affair with the city of Los Angeles since its construction in 1929. Known for its quality acoustics and views of California's night skies, this performance venue has hosted many of the most recognizable names in music. With a seating capacity of 5,801, and Pinks Hotdogs as their official franks, The Greek Theatre (on a nice evening) is an unrivaled venue to experience not only great music, but also the beauty of Los Angeles. Box Office Hours: Mon-Fri 12pm-6pm, Sat-Sun 10am-4pm
This is the street where most paparazzi make their money (no offense to Rodeo Dr.). With high-profile Kitson scattered multiple times throughout this strip, celebs, visitors and locals come here to find the latest in boutique fashion. Robertson is also home to Tori Burch, Lisa Klein (second home to Paris and Lindsey), True Religion, Curve, Madison and even an Armani Home store. Lunching includes the always buzzing Ivy, Newsroom café and the quaint Cuvee, all of which are generally packed with celebs or nearby New Line Cinema’s power players. Hours: Vary by store

Forget packing up the SUV, dropping $75 fatties on gas and making the two-hour cruise south of the border. For a great (read: local) margarita, drive down La Cienega, dodge the valets, and pull over at the Spanish Kitchen. Wear sandals, because these margaritas will literally knock your socks off! The house (La Casa) varieties are not only the most economical, they're also the best. Hours: Daily 11am-11pm

Once a true neighborhood dive bar, The Dime has quickly caught the eye of Hollywood's hipster crowd. This may deter a few of the local's but once a dive bar, always a dive bar! Great dj's with an eclectic sound and a track for everyone. Some may choose to dress the part, while others roll up in jeans and a t-shirt. Drinks are strong and cheap and there’s always a cool, down-to-earth crowed (just avoid those who look like they tried to dress dive-bar-hipster). The place is about as big as a dorm room, so get there early to avoid the wait. But if there is a line, it's truly because they're at capacity and not because they're trying to seem like the popular club of the week. Hours: Daily 7pm - 1:30am

This West Hollywood cathedral of good cheer has many different faces. Sometimes it's a a laid-back break from the Sunset scene and sometimes it's a raucous house party with ample opportunities to make enjoyable mistakes. Either way, it's right up our alley. A wide array of tasty draft beers are at your disposal and they serve up above average pub grub. You'll find many a cheap thrill with there happy hour prices. Procure yourself a comfy couch upstairs that lines the small dance floor. Parking can be a beast, so look for valet. Get loose, get nutty in this target-rich environment. Open Mon 12am-2am, 11am-2am; Tue-Sat 11am-2am; Sun 11am-12am

After a brief renovation, Normandie room came back better than ever. If you plan to hit up the pool table then also plan to head here a bit earlier to avoid the late-evening rush, since once the place gets crowded it gets a bit harder to make your shots with someone's elbow in your side. Hours: Daily 5pm-2am

Yamashiro translates to 'mountain palace' in Japanese and this place certainly lives up to the billing. Think of it as Mr. Miyagi's house after a thousand Danielsans toiled over it. Awesome 80's movie references aside, this place is the very definition of wow factor. Stunning views and amazingly fresh sushi all in a Zenlike setting that looks over Hollywood. New management switched the menu to CalAsian cuisine, whatever that means, and it seems to be working. Make sure you get a table with a view so you can look over the LA smog. Kidding! Don't waste it on a first date unless they're a sure keeper. Try the crab cakes. Try the short ribs. Oh, and sweep the leg. You won't be disqualified. Hours: Sun-Thu 5:30pm-11:30pm, Fri-Sat 5:30pm-12:30am

People are passionate about their barbecue. And we're passionate about Woody's. The place is basic, doing carryout meats such as ribs, sausage links, white meat chicken and everything else you'd expect from a restaurant specializing in barbecue. It gets crowded come rush hour, but any wait is worth your while, especially when you realize how little dough you spent on a whole lot of tasty goodness. And in addition to their fresh meats, Woody's also has a truly friendly staff, which probably helps explain how an unpretentious barbecue joint in LA has been successful for more than 30 years. Hours: Mon-Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 12pm-10pm

Pink's is world-famous for their hotdogs, which we highly recommend. But they've also been cooking up some rather tasty burgers that all too often fly under the radar when compared to their long-bun brethren. We all know Pink's is a happening late night spot where you're as likely to run into an A-list celeb as you are the guy who was pouring you drinks a couple hours earlier. But what we don't all know about is their Bacon Chili Cheese Burger or, even better, the Poli-Bacon Chili Cheese Burger. Poli-baca-what you ask? Here's a hint: grilled Polish dog and a cheeseburger on a bun with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. How does it taste you ask? We think it tastes great, but we’ll let you be the judge. Hours: Sun-Thu 9:30am-2am, Fri-Sat 9:30am-3am

If the sitcom Friends had been set in LA, Karma Coffeehouse may have been the spot where those lovable characters would have met to discuss love, life, bills, fame, family and each other. Alas, it wasn't, but Karma Coffeehouse gives off a vibe that seems similar to that of the fictitious Central Perk. There's a super friendly atmosphere, knowledgeable baristas and a slate of entertainment – from music to comedy. There's also a limited menu featuring salads and sandwiches as well as plenty of organic, hand-crafted and fairly traded coffee for you to enjoy while reclining back on one of the many cozy couches. Mon-Fri 8am-Midnight, Sat-Sun 9am-Midnight

Sprinkles serves up cupcakes that look as good as they taste, which just happens to be delicious. Made fresh throughout the day, Sprinkles specializes in changing flavors daily to keep you and your sweet tooth coming back for more. Made with quality ingredients (such as sweet cream butter, real fruit and Belgian chocolate), after one taste you'll understand why there's usually a line and why you keep finding yourself standing in it. Hours: Mon-Sat 9am-7pm, Sun 10am-6pm

Open strictly to cater to the breakfast and lunch crowd, people can’t get enough of The Griddle. Although you’ll be waiting in line long enough to appreciate anything that enters your mouth, the menu (filled with smirk-worthy puns) has anything and everything to please your group. Be prepared to share or have a silent eating contest with yourself, these portions are gi-nor-mous. Top sellers include the French-press coffee, banana or pumpkin pancakes, the griddle-wich (a heavenly concoction of peanut butter, strawberry jam and chocolate-covered bananas) and the LaVida Loca Burger classically wrapped in wax paper. Although it’s a bit trendy, it’s well worth putting up with the posers to dine at this Hollywood staple. Hours: Mon-Fri 7am-4pm, Sat-Sun 8am-4pm

This relatively inexpensive Mexican fare is served in an environment that obviously used to be an Italian restaurant and is frequented by customers that like their enchiladas, carnitas and tacos done well. Mucho Mas is not exactly as kid-friendly as you may be led to believe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you plan on sampling multiple margaritas. So leave the little ones at home this time around, which will allow you to pay more attention to chips and salsa in front of you. Hours: Sun-Thu 11am-11pm, Fri-Sat 11am-12am

Unless you have a party of more than six, Casa Bianca won't take your reservation, meaning you may have to wait to get your pie hole on some delectable thin-crust pie. But if you do have to wait, believe us, it could be worse. Frequented by a steadily eclectic crowd, Casa Bianca is a cash-only slice of Americana served piping hot out of Eagle Rock. A bit out-of-the-way, Casa Bianca has been in business for over 50 years in a restaurant that, by and large, is probably very little changed from how it looked in the mid-1950s. Using recipes made from scratch, we recommend the sausage or eggplant pizzas. Or, better yet, try both. Hours: Tue-Thu 4pm-12am, Fri-Sat 4pm-1am

Not sure that Barney's needs to be in operation 365 days a year, but it's nice to know that they're doors are always open for all the big (and not so big) games. With tons of beers and an insane amount of burger choices, Barney's is a low-key hang that probably does more business than any other dive around. If you're there for an early NFL game, don't be shy about ordering up one of their omelets (there are a million choices). If you're there for the later game, try the chili to go along with your burger. And for dessert, there's usually some eye candy running around. Hours: Mon-Fri 10am-2am, Sat-Sun 9am-2am

People line up for blocks to enjoy the protein-packed goodness at this hip steakhouse in the heart of Beverly Hills. The Richard Meier designed hotspot is definitely the place to see and be seen so get there early as possible because the tables fill up fast - it is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, after all. Once inside, order all the entrees you can afford, and definitely ask the sommelier about the carefully crafted wine list that features distinctive labels from around the world. No small feat, the restaurant was given the James Beard Foundation award for best new restaurant, so you know that it has to be a cut above the rest. Hours: Mon-Sat 5:30pm-10:30pm

If something smells fishy, that would be the fresh sushi. Everything on the menu in this contemporary oasis is presented in a manner that's easy on the eyes. The food is “east meets west” applied with French techniques and uses the freshest ingredients. And sushi is easy on the waistline too, right? With a hipster interior and great outdoor patio, Fat Fish has us hooked. Hours: Sun-Thu 5pm-11pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-12am

The Staples Center is home to five of LA's professional sports franchises: the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks. It's a big task to host so many teams, yet the Staples Center seems to rise effortlessly to the challenge. Always clean and comfortable, the Staples Center legitimately doesn't have a bad seat in the house. As with most arenas hosting professional sports teams, the prices for tickets, the fees to park and the cost of food are expensive, but that's to be expected. If you have an opportunity to sit in a luxury seat, please do - your rear end will thank you. Hours: Vary

The lounge at Hyde is small, which brings the word intimate to mind. Models, celebrities and people that know how to get on a guest list flock to the first floor lounge for a chance to mingle under the candlelight. Due to Hyde's "intimate" size, getting in on a weekend without a table reservation is like getting into Fort Knox, it's not going to happen. But once your reservation is booked and you're on the inside, you'll find that Hyde has good music, good looking people and an ambiance that, though a bit pretentious, is really quite cool. Hours: Sat-Sun 9pm-2am

First rule of thumb to act like you fit in at this restaurant – pronounce it correctly (il sol-ay… not il SOUL). Yes, you will most likely sit next to Jennifer Aniston at this restaurant, and yes your bill will not be less than $150. WORTH IT. Not only to rub elbows with the hottest celebs (or at least the ones with good taste), but for the intimate dining atmosphere, the surprising unpretentiousness and of course, the food. The Northern Italian fare consists of only the freshest soups, antipastis and meats. The wines are also delectable and your waiter will certainly be able to help you find the perfect pairing with your meal to complete this Italian experience. Hours: Mon-Sat 6pm-10pm, Sun 5:30pm-9pm

No one actually likes Moroccan cuisine; we all just eat it because it makes us look cultured and sophisticated, right? Thankfully Dar Maghreb is not a place to go just to look cool while pretending to understand what you’re ordering. While the food is quite authentic, including pigeon dishes, vegetable salads, lentil soup and much more, the atmosphere is what makes this restaurant worth a visit. Decorated to feel like a traditional Moroccan home, the wait staff is dressed in Moroccan garb and they take it upon themselves to make every guest feel like royalty, beginning with the traditional hand-washing ceremony. The best part of the evening? Belly dancing. Happening nightly, be sure to stick around and get an eye-full of these gorgeous professionals. Open Mon-Fri 6-11pm; Sat 5:30-11pm; Sun 5:30-10:30pm

For being one of the most famous late-night eateries in the city, very few people have ACTUALLY eaten at Pink’s. The reason? That line of 200 people waiting in front of you when you decide to give it a try. To get a shot at one of their 10” chili cheese dogs be sure to leave the bar well before midnight and head over to begin the wait. The line is always lively and the staff is always over-the-top efficient in getting you the perfect order. They also serve hamburgers and some chicken dishes, but they are famous for their hotdogs. Try the Lord of the Rings dog or the Martha Stewart. While the combinations could not seem less fitting, the magic in your mouth will never have you questioning polish sausage AND a cheeseburger in one bun again (Poli-Bacon Chili Cheeseburger). Hours: Sun-Thu 9:30am-2am, Fri-Sat 9:30am-3am

Ronin serves Asian-style tapas. What's that mean exactly? Turns out it means excellent little dishes at completely reasonable prices. And not just prices that are "LA reasonable," but that are reasonable as in "still a good deal in other cities." So here's our suggestion: when those friends from other cities come to visit, take them here. Not only will they love the Taco Shimi and Seared Scallops, but you'll love not having to listen to them complain about how expensive LA is. It's a win-win situation for all, especially your taste buds.

So, I know you’re desperately searching this website to find THE place to go for all around awesomeness. Well you found it! Wolfgang Puck’s signature restaurant, Spago has been winning the “who’s who” of culinary awards since its doors first opened. Serving cuisine that can only be described at California Italian, it’s virtually impossible to try the same thing twice on this menu, as every dish features fresh seasonal (California has seasons?) ingredients and sets the standards in culinary excellence. Wolfgang’s favorite menu items (unconfirmed) include the three kinds of foie gras, Spicy Beef Goulash and Slow-roasted Braised Lamb. Hours: Mon-Thu 11:30am-2:15pm, 5:30pm-9pm, Fri 11:30am-2:15pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm, Sat 12pm-2:15pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm, Sun 5:30pm-9pm

If your date doesn't fall in love with you here, they'll at least fall in love with the food. The menu features Northern Italian cuisine, with pasta selections based around linguini, risotto and spaghetti. Entrees include prime steak dishes as well as veal and chicken options, plus Eggplant Siciliana for the vegetarians out there. The atmosphere is old school, which is charming without being outdated. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the volume never gets too loud for intimate conversation. Due to La Dolce Vita's popularity (it has been around since 1966) just popping in isn't the best idea, so reservations are strongly suggested. Hours: Mon-Sat 5pm-closing time
