The Detroit Institute of Arts just finished a five year, multi million dollar expansion to further showcase great art and exhibits to residents of Detroit and visitors. Some of the fine artists displayed there include Van Gogh, Diego Rivera, and many others comprising multi-cultural and multi-national. Famed photographer Annie Lebowitz and her collection of Rock N' Roll photos were on display there last year.

Cranbrook, which gained some noteriety in the film "8 Mile" is also one of the finest prep schools in the country. They have an extensive collection of fine art (featuring Eames, Warhol and others). Beyond that they also have acclaimed surrounding the campus, and a great science center. Make special note to check out the Planetarium (preferably when they are doing a show with the music of Pink Floyd).
