Mitchell's is ALL steakhouse, dear reader. We're talking about prime cuts aged 28 days with your choice from six different sauces. The lobster corn bisque is delicious, but you'll also want to save room for their a la carte sides and decadent desserts. Mitchell's offers a New York steakhouse vibe, letting contemporary music fill the spacious venue and complement their impeccable service. Their dirty little secret is that Cameron Mitchell recently sold them off to the Ruth's Chris franchise, but hallelujah - the name, the quality, and some of our favorite servers have been retained. Of the nightly specials, Sneaky recommends Tuesday for the Filet Oscar. Lunch M-F 11:30-2:30; Dinner Mo-Th 5-10 / Fr-Sa 5-11 / Su 5-9

Hyde Park is the most happening of all Columbus restaurants thanks to its prime location on the newly-developed "cap" over I-670. What was once just a plain old bridge is now a shopping and dining mecca connecting downtown to the Short North. Now that you've had a quick civics lesson, let's get back to Hyde Park. They feature outstanding steaks named after local sports celebrities (Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Rahal, Archie Griffin, even Kirk Herbstreit). The food is fanstastic and the atmosphere is high-energy. Reservations are definitely recommended because the place is packed every weekend. Mo-Th 4:30-10 / Fr-Sa 4:30-11 / Su 4:30-9

Seriously - what is up with that name? So Chris is someone who belongs to Ruth? Haven't we done away with the whole "humans as property" mindset by now? We digress. You will be far less easy to distract while chowing down on a steak at Ruth's Chris. What makes their beef so good? Is it the butter? Is it the 1800 degree searing temperature? Why are we asking so many questions when we could be...mmmm. Mo-Th 5-9:30 / Fr-Sa 5-10 / Sun 5-9

Once celebrated as the best steakhouse in Chicago, Morton's has expanded to several locations across the nation including downtown Columbus. It's proximity to the Statehouse and Nationwide Insurance make it a power lunch hub. Although some stiff competition keep Morton's from being recognized as the best steak in Columbus, you will in no way be disappointed by your meal or your dining experience.

Columbus is one of nine cities to feature Smith & Wollensky, one of the nation's best steakhouses. Located at the Easton Town Center, Smith & Wollensky provides an high-class escape from the shopping mania. The steaks...maybe a little over-seasoned...are perfectly prepared and they have a stunning wine list. The bar and patio provide a people-watching oasis. Practice this line "honey, I'm going to stop in Smith & Wollensky for a martini while you finish up at Nordstrom's." It has saved Sneaky more than once! They're also open late. Nice. The Clarmont is the oldest of old school. It opened its doors in the 1950's and has barely changed since. It's easy to imagine Dean Martin and ol' Blue Eyes swilling bourbon over a couple porterhouses. The walls are still tinted with smoke, and you can still see the outlets where the tableside phones used to be connected. Most importantly, the food is still pretty good. Go figure, the prices have managed to keep pace with modern times even though the decor has not. There are plenty of places where you can get a slightly better steak, but if you want to harken back to the days of the Rat Pack, Cold War tension, and new-fangled black and white televisions, look no further.
