Believe it or not, there is a "Columbus-style" pizza! The crust is a bit thicker than New York style, but much thinner than Chicago style and the pie is cut into rectangles. That's just the way it has always been, and Rotolo's is king of Columbus-style pizza. You may get a hernia from lifting the pizza box, as the pie is loaded with mounds of the finest available toppings. Not only is Rotolo's regularly voted the best pizza in Columbus, but Los Angeles magazine recognized them as one of the top 10 pizzas in the nation. Once limited to pickup from their Grandview location (how sneaky!), the proverbial cat is now out of the proverbial bag. Rotolo's has expanded to five locations and added a delivery service, so you have no excuse to not try them. Mo-Th 11-10 / Fr-Sa 11-11 / Su 1-10

Flying Pizza is not only the best pizza on the OSU campus, but the closest thing the city has to authentic New York style pizza. Whether you grab a slice to go on gameday, or haul a whole pie home for dinner, it hits the spot. Instead of (or in addition to) pepperoni or sausage, try their meatballs. Sneaky like! Dante's is old school neighborhood pizza and Italian food. We think the neighbors keep the restaurant a secret so that it doesn't go commerical. That also explains why the recipes and the staff haven't changed in years (thank goodness). Sneaky loves their meatball subs, but the pizza is flat-out outstanding! They don't take credit cards, and only the most regular of regulars can write a check, so hit the ATM before you visit. Be prepared to talk Steelers football or Reds baseball with Pat while you wait for your thin crust pie. Then try not to devour half of it on the drive home. Mo-Th 5:30-11 / Fr-Sa 3:30-12:30

Many a diploma has been fueled by Adriatico's famous pies. The pizzeria sits a couple blocks off of High Street, the main drag through the OSU campus, but is worth the trip. Their thick crust pizza is even better than the thin, and they don't dare skimp on the garlic. If you're throwing a big party, Adriatico's extra-large is something like three feet wide. Right up your alley if you like spicy and greasy. We mean that in a good way. Mo-Th 11a-12:30a / Fr-Sa 11a-1:30a / Su 12p-11:30p Open Mon-Thu 11am-1:30am; Fri-Sat 11am-2:30am; Sun 12pm-12am

Yes, this is a chain, but Columbus is its home. The Grote family started it all here about 35 years ago and defined the "Columbus-style" pizza. It really tastes like no other, so locals either love it or hate it. Sneaky is a bit of a carnivore, so we're recommending the Founders Favorite: pepperoni, sausage, ham, and banana peppers. Donato's goes great with a side of 6 or 7 beers and a quart of water because their pies are salty. No matter where you are, there is a Donato's near you, so get thee to a website (not unlike this one) or phone book. They deliver to just about every address in the city, but this location covers the downtown area.

With its tree-shaded patio, Plank's is a great venue for casual outdoor dining with a hot pizza and a pitcher of cold beer. Their thin crust delight really is served at a searing, right-from-the-oven temperature, so let that baby cool down before you dive in. Toppings include the usual suspects, including good ol' bacon! Their appetizers stray a bit from the usual pub fare to include morsels like mini tacos. Plank's definitely caters to a certain subset of the softball crowd. Not the laborers who get a little too amped up for a game, but the professionals who start a drinking team that dabbles in softball. Mo-Th 11-2 / Fr-Sa 11-2:30
