Barcelona has that special something for your special someone. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, which is saying something, because it changes often. Paella and other Spanish-infused dishes abound. If you really want to impress a date, request a table on Barcelona's beautifully-manicured patio. You're guaranteed to feel like a VIP. Lunch: M-F 11:30-2:30 Dinner: M-Th 5:30-10 / F-Sa 5:30-11 / Su 5-10

A trip to Basi feels like you're invading someone's house. The restaurant is TINY. If Basi can seat 30 at a time, we'd be shocked. But when you've got a hot date, "tiny" translates to "cozy," and that, dear reader, translates to "amore," especially if you score a table on the impeccably manicured patio. It helps that the food is outstanding and the wine list impresses. Basi stands out among all others. Think of it as the Colt 45 of dining experiences. Like Billy Dee says, it works every time. M is the simply-named restaurant and lounge on the first floor of Columbus' swankiest address. Pulling your Kia into the driveway and stopping at the valet station, you'll feel like you're headed into the party scene in "Eyes Wide Shut." The bar area feels like it comes right out of South Beach with its subtly-changing light scheme. Add to that some of the best views of the Columbus skyline, and you'll agree that M deserves its place as the crown jewel of Cameron Mitchell's restaurant empire. Rest assured that you and your date will be duly impressed.

Although not technically outdoor, per se, Marcella's in the Short North does feature enormous windows that open up the entire front of the restaurant to the bustling High Street sidewalk. As you enjoy the city breeze, dine on Italian small plates (imported deli meats, cheeses, and olives) and wine by the quartino, mezzolitro, or litro. The restaurant has a high-energy and vibrant trattoria feel to it. You get the feeling that Marcella's patrons are there to party just as much as dine. That could justify why the bar is so packed. Reservations are strongly encouraged, as this is Columbus' hot restaurant of the moment. Su-Mo 4-10 / Tu-Th 4-11 / Fr-Sa 4-1

Due Amici (Italiano for "two friends") sports the finest Sunday brunch in the downtown core. Bide your time until noon when the alcohol can begin to flow legally. The dining room, bar/lounge, and outdoor patio all provide unique views, so pick a seat, order a little tomotoey hair of the dog, and get to work on that nasty hangover...even if you earned it by hitting the sauce at Due Amici the night before. The Elevator is situated in a historic...and haunted...building, but don't let ghosts deter you from one of the city's best happy hours. The food and microbrews are both delicious. You'll feel comfortable whether you lounge on the patio, plant yourself in front of the bay windows in the front of the restaurant, or play a game of pool on either of the Elevator's restored 19th century billiard tables.
