El Vaquero ("The Cowboy") is muy autentico. Jokes about "La Migra" are certainly frowned upon. The menu is extensive - you can order by number up from over 150 selections - and yet the waitstaff have it memorized. This is not Don Pablo-style Tex-Mex, mi amigo. This is no nonsense Mexican cuisine...and it is delicious. The owners finally realized they have a good thing, so franchises are opening up all over Central Ohio. Chili Verde dishes out some of the best Mexican and Tex-Mex food in town. They get a little creative with their menu, offering items like a BBQ grilled fajita burrito. Chili Verde might be a little pricier than some of their competitors, but not outrageously so. The restaurant is pretty small, but that gives it a lively feel. The margaritas are also recommended. Abuelo's serves up gourmet Mexican-inspired dishes at pretty steep prices. We'll let you decide whether or not you want to spend $13 on fajitas, but we can at least vouch for their flavor. Abuelo's can get away with jacking up the prices thanks to all of the mall traffic at Easton. If you want sit-down Mexican food, perhaps with a date, Abuelo's is a good play. Otherwise, you might be better off with a pit stop at nearby Chipotle. Su-Th 11-10 / Fr-Sa 11-11

Adobe Gila's is more about delivering potent margaritas in a party atmosphere than becoming the city's premier Mexican restaurant. And that is fine with us, because Sneaky appreciates a cocktail every now and then. The food is certainly serviceable, but the cantina vibe is better suited to round after round of Coronas while people-watching at Columbus' biggest shopping venue. Many nights feature live music or DJs and Wednesday is ladies' night. A special note to those having 3+ drinks: Adobe Gila's has no bathrooms of its own.
