Unless you have dined at Sneaky's grandmother's house, you have not had Italian food better than what Trattoria Roma offers. The beef brasciole (meat-covered meat!) and osso bucco are to die for. There isn't much to the Roma's decor, but the service is top-notch. After devouring a hearty meal and slugging down a bottle of chianti, you'll want to break into a rousing chorus of "Funiculi, Funicula." We only ask that you save room for the city's finest tiramisu. Lunch M-F 11-2; Dinner Su-Th 4-9 / Fr-Sa 4-11

A trip to Basi feels like you're invading someone's house. The restaurant is TINY. If Basi can seat 30 at a time, we'd be shocked. But when you've got a hot date, "tiny" translates to "cozy," and that, dear reader, translates to "amore," especially if you score a table on the impeccably manicured patio. It helps that the food is outstanding and the wine list impresses. Basi stands out among all others. Think of it as the Colt 45 of dining experiences. Like Billy Dee says, it works every time. Open M-Th 5-10 / F-Sa 5-11

La Plaia is no nonsense family Italian. Literally. You will almost certainly be greeted by the owner and head chef, Italo Santilli, during your visit. You can order from the menu, but the regulars just ask for whatever is good that day. Considering most dishes are made with the freshest ingredients at hand, you're bound to be rewarded. On Sneaky's last visit, we got manicotti that melted in our mouths. Paisanos agree that La Plaia is the real deal. Definitely worth the drive to Northeast Columbus. Reservations recommended. Tu-Th 5-9 / Fr-Sa 5-9:30

Lasagna! There, we said it. Z Cucina offers plenty of delicious Italian dishes, but after one bite of their lasagna, you may only see one item on the menu. We recommend you first whet your appetite with one of their appetizers. The Z Tavola Tasting Plate is always a crowd pleaser...or an enormous meal for one. The bar is also a comfortable place to belly up for an aperitif, a digestif, or a shot of Old Crow for all we care. Open Mo-Sa from 5:00 until whenever Rick feels like closing.

Figlio specializes in wood-fired pizza, zesty pasta dishes...and a vibrant atmosphere. They know how to rock the neighborhood bistro vibe, complete with a small sidewalk patio. The tables are nestled close to one another, giving the restaurant an intimate and upbeat feel. All of the food is solid and reasonably priced, but Chicken Diablo is particularly excellent, as are the pizzas. Figlio offers several pies to choose from, but feel free to built your own. A tasteful and inexpensive wine list offeres selections that pair nicely with the food. In fact, with food this good and prices this affordable, you'll feel like you're robbing the place. Giuseppe's is a very popular (and very authentic) Italian restaurant in the "old money" neighborhood of Bexley. After years of serving the community in a glorified VFW, the restaurant finally remodeled/expanded and can now accommodate about 100 guests. Giuseppe's is based on the principle that good Italian food is made simply and with high-quality ingredients. No entree on the menu tops $21...but you'd gladly pay more for one of their succulent veal dishes. Giuseppe's doesn't take reservations, but you can call ahead up to 30 minutes before you arrive. Lunch M-F 11:30-2:30; Dinner Mo-Sa 5:00 until guests stop showing up.
