M is the simply-named restaurant and lounge on the first floor of Columbus' swankiest address. Pulling your Kia into the driveway and stopping at the valet station, you'll feel like you're headed into the party scene in "Eyes Wide Shut." The bar area feels like it comes right out of South Beach with its subtly-changing light scheme. M is the crown jewel of Cameron Mitchell's restaurant empire, so rest assured that you and your date will be duly impressed.

Chef Hartmut Handke has won an astonishing 38 gold medals in culinary competitions, more than any other American chef. In other words, you're going to get an excellent, if not award-winning, meal. The cellar-like feel lends itself well to date night, but Handke's would also score major brownie points with your parents. There isn't a bad dish on the menu, so order with confidence. Just be sure to finish with the creme brulee. Zagat named it the single best dessert in the country, and after you experience its otherworldly, silky texture, you'll be hard pressed to disagree. Lindey's delivers New York bistro-style dining in the heart of Columbus' German Village neighborhood. You know - the white tablecloth and brass railing stuff. Their steaks and seafood dishes are outstanding, and you're certain to rub elbows with Columbus' titans of business. During Sneaky's last visit, we noshed next to OSU's bow-tied president E. Gordon Gee. Not exactly George Clooney, but this is Columbus. You're still best off leaving the jeans at home. Su-Th 11-10 / Fr-Sa 11-11

Mitchell's is all steakhouse, dear reader. We're talking prime cuts aged 28 days with your choice from six different sauces. The lobster corn bisque is delicious and you'll find the a la carte sides to also be tasty. Mitchell's offers a New York vibe, letting contemporary music fill the spacious venue and complement their impeccable service. Their dirty little secret is that Cameron Mitchell recently sold them off to the Ruth's Chris franchise, but the name and the quality has been retained. Of the nightly specials, Sneaky recommends Tuesday for the Filet Oscar. Lunch M-F 11:30-2:30; Dinner Mo-Th 5-10 / Fr-Sa 5-11 / Su 5-9

Hyde Park is the most happening of all Columbus restaurants thanks to its prime location on the newly-developed "cap" over I-670. What was once just a plain old bridge is now a shopping and dining mecca connecting downtown to the Short North. Now that you've had a quick civics lesson, let's get back to Hyde Park. They feature outstanding steaks named after local sports celebrities (Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Rahal, Archie Griffin, even Kirk Herbstreit). The food is fanstastic and the atmosphere is high-energy. Reservations are definitely recommended because the place is packed every weekend. Mo-Th 4:30-10 / Fr-Sa 4:30-11 / Su 4:30-9

Barcelona has that special something for your special someone. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, which is saying something, because it changes often. Paella and other Spanish-infused dishes abound. If you really want to impress a date, request a table on Barcelona's beautifully-manicured patio. You're guaranteed to feel like a VIP.
