We love The Rossi! Not only is it open every day, but it always seems to attract a cool, yet spirited crowd. Of course that could be a byproduct of shoehorning 50 people into a closet-sized room, but we prefer calling it "intimate," or even "cozy." The primary room features a long bar and several comfy booths, perfect for tipping back some drinks (expertly poured by Ken) with friends while noshing on their fantastic sandwiches and super-thin crust pizzas. Whether you're having drinks, dinner, or some combination of the two, you'll definitely dig this place. It is one of the few Short North restaurants that offers convenient parking, so it's frequently packed. The recent expansion into the space next door provides some much-needed relief, but we recommend you kick it in the bar area. M-F 11:30-2:30 / Sa 4-2:30 / Su 5-2:30

Sure, you can get "American cuisine" just about anywhere, but G. Michael's delivers meals that matter. The menu is comprised of a wide variety of meat and seafood dishes, plus staples like chicken and pasta. Perhaps borrowing from its sister restaurant, the Burgundy Room, G. Michael's has added some small plates to its menu including goodies like shrimp and grits. The service is always excellent (a Sneaky tip of the hat to Aaron), and we recommend you start and/or end your evening with a pit stop in G. Michael's bar. With its home in Columbus' swanky German Village, the bar and bistro attracts a great crowd. Su-Th 5-10 / Fr-Sa 5-11

Bexley's Monk has been around since 1984, which is long enough to be considered "old school" in the ever-changing restaurant scene. Besides feeding hungry patrons for almost a quarter-century, "The Monk" is a popular date location. We think it's the live music in the lounge that makes lovers swoon, but it could also be their well-stocked bar and fantastic happy hour prices that loosen inhibitions. The Monk attracts an older crowd, but it is far from stuffy. On our last visit, the piano player even trotted out tunes from Bon Jovi and Cyndi Lauper (what the...?!)
