Ah, how the ladies love Ivy Hill. Perhaps it is the inviting sign that proclaims "Your husband called; he said you can buy anything you want." We think it's the eclectic mix of clothing, bags, jewelry, and accessories. Like Donny and Marie, Ivy Hill is a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n' roll, but also a little bit kitschy (as evidenced by some of their cute/ironic T-shirts) and quite a bit hip. Hillary Dutcher keeps the shelves stocked with an ever-rotating supply of merch from Boe, San Diego Hats, Orla Kiely, Free People, Susana Monaco and Flux. Hey ladies! Get...funky!

When a girl needs a pair of designer jeans but still wants to be treated like a princess for shelling out her hard-earned $200, look no further than Dr. Mojoe. You'll find all the usual suspects: Rock and Republic, Seven, True Religion, Citizens, Chip and Pepper, etc. etc. Owner Kevin VanOrder is fanatical about jeans, well, the same way you are fanatical about jeans...but times ten! The Dr is a little light on accessories, but they sport a fine collection of tops, T-shirts, and belts. We love their slogan: "Fashion hurts. The Dr has the cure."

Some boutiques just sell stuff. That is soooo 2005! Owner and former New Yorker Christina Getachew runs a boutique with a heart, donating thousands of dollars in sales to charities that improve educational services for children in the US. Substance also offers design lab workshops, teaching patrons how to deconstruct and redesign T-shirts, use antique block printing, or recondition your favorite old jacket. That's recycling, Holmes! Despite all these acts of kindness and charity, Substance also finds time to assemble a cool, urban collection of clothing, bags, jewelry, and accessories. You know, it's a little easier to buy a new handbag when you know a chunk of your dough is going to a good cause. We think Substance is a creative mix of philanthropy and marketing genius.

Jinny rocks some of the most trendy and upscale rags in the city, including designers as diverse as Willow, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rachel Roy, Enza Costa, AKA, and dozens more. Fillinger's roots are in LA, but these labels come from all over the world as she keeps her pulse on the ever-changing fashion landscape. If you're going boutique-hopping in the Short North, a stop at Jinny should be mandatory.
