Spice is the trendiest of the trendy in Columbus, anchoring the exploding Park Street scene. The loungy front room attracts a young and beautiful crowd while the dance club in the back spins the latest dance tracks. Get there early or expect to wait in line (note: does not apply if you are a group of five hot chicks). Some nights may feel a little like a meat market with scantily-clad ladies and leering guys, but isn't that always the way? Hey, Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo partied at Spice when the were in Columbus, so it's good enough for you!

M is the simply-named restaurant and lounge on the first floor of Columbus' swankiest address. Pulling your Kia into the driveway and stopping at the valet station, you'll feel like you're headed into the party scene in "Eyes Wide Shut." The bar area feels like it comes right out of South Beach with its subtly-changing light scheme. Add to that some of the best views of the Columbus skyline, and you'll agree that M deserves its place as the crown jewel of Cameron Mitchell's restaurant empire. Rest assured that you and your date will be duly impressed.

The Burgundy Room is the city's finest wine and tapas bar, but it is far from stuffy. There are dozens of affordable options to tipple, and the staff are knowledgable and helpful with your selections. It gets a little packed, especially on weekends (and insanely so during Gallery Hop - the first Saturday of every month), but if you're patient, your reward is a round, high-backed leather booth that makes it impossible to avoid lively conversation. Because you're ordering small, inexpensive plates of food, you're almost always pleasantly surprised when the bill comes.

We know you're all geography whizzes, but Latitude 41 sits just south of the fortieth parallel in the lobby of The Columbus, a Renaissance Hotel. After undergoing a significant facelit a few years ago, the Renaissance debuted the only bar and restaurant in Columbus that you might actually visit even if you're not staying in the hotel. The bar is full of sofas and comfy chairs, all of which have a view of the Third Street bustle passing by. A great place to start the night or grab a nightcap, Bar 41 doesn't crank the music, so you can actually carry on a conversation. M-F 11 AM to 12 midnight, S/S noon to midnight, but almost always open later.

Mynt is not the biggest dance club, but it still scores A-list DJs from across the nation. This two level club has a small upstairs lounge and a dance floor downstairs. Formerly known as the Carlile Club, Mynt has had a remarkably long tenure as one of Columbus' most popular dance clubs. It may lack the "wow" appeal of Spice or Sugar, but there is something to be said for Mynt's intimate vibe...assuming "intimate" is your thing.
