Located in the heart of Lincoln Park/Lakeview neighborhood, the X factor is best known for its sushi smothered with unusual toppings and “out of this world” sauces. The White Tiger Roll stuffed with an array of ingredients including wasabi mayo to lime juice and spicy tuna OR the Pollo Loco, a panko-crusted chicken rolled up with lettuce, avocado and topped with what the chef calls “a special red sauce.” The sleek décor of beaded curtains and the blue-and-silver color scheme is a sushi paradise. You can’t call yourself a Chicagoan unless you’ve heard of the infamous Shaw Oyster Bar, especially if you are obsessed with fresh seafood, from sushi to oysters on the half shell. They offer over 40 entrees (if you’re not big on the bottom dwellers) and love them some crab, which they offer in every variety – Alaskan, Maryland and Dungeness. The environment is casual yet hip and features an upscale dining area with polished wood paneling and globe lighting to set the scene. If that’s not enough to tempt you, live music plays on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Hours: Mon-Thu 11:30am-2pm; 5pm-10pm; Fri 11:30am-2pm; 5pm-11pm; Sat 5pm-11pm; Sun 5pm-10pm

Amazing seafood and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline is Riva’s signature. If the weather permits, have a seat outside on the pier, or for those that want a more intimate setting, enjoy an elegant dining room with the smell of fried calamari or bacon-wrapped diver scallops, tuna, salmon, sole, crab, and lobster. Sample some goodies from the raw bar while you watch your meal being prepared at the 40-foot long exhibition kitchen. Sneaky says: head there before the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre for a special Prix Fix menu or 20% the regular menu. Sun-Thu 11:30am-3pm; 5pm-10pm; Fri-Sat 11:30am-3pm; 5pm-11pm
